Elk Grove City Manager Jason Behrmann is pleased to introduce the City’s new Assistant City Manager, Jaqui Guzman.   “We are excited to welcome Jaqui to our organization,” said Behrmann. “She brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and unique perspectives to the position and I am confident that with her help, we will continue to raise the bar in the delivery of exceptional services to the Elk Grove community.”   The selection of Ms. Guzmán concludes a national recruitment process. The City has operated without an Assistant City Manager since 2019, when the position was vacated by current City Manager, Jason Behrmann.   Ms. Guzmán comes to the City of Elk Grove with more than 17 years of public sector work experience, most recently as the Deputy City Manager to the City of Sunnyvale. Prior to that, she held management and analyst positions with the Cities of Cupertino and San Jose, and the State’s Legislative Analyst Office.   “I’m honored to join Elk Grove, a city celebrated for its diversity and high quality of life. As I step into this role, I’m eager to work collaboratively with staff and residents to build on these strengths. I’m excited to use my passion for fostering inclusive, community-driven solutions to contribute to Elk Grove’s continued growth and shared vision.” said Ms. Guzmán.   Ms. Guzmán holds a master’s degree in Public Policy from the UCLA School of Public Affairs and a bachelor’s degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College. Ms. Guzmán will start work with the City in December.   For more information about the City or current job opportunities, visit www.elkgrovecity.org.

Today marks the solemn anniversary of the September 11 attacks, a day that forever changed our nation and our world. On this day, we remember and honor the thousands of innocent lives lost and the countless heroes who emerged. 🚒 🚔 We remember the bravery of our first responders who rushed into danger, sacrificing their lives to save others. 🙏 We remember the resilience of survivors and their families, who rebuilt their lives and their city with unwavering strength and determination. 🕯 We remember that in the face of hatred and terror, our nation united as one. The spirit of unity and solidarity still shines as a beacon of hope. As we pause to reflect, let us also renew our commitment to the values that make our country strong: freedom, diversity, and compassion. Let us stand together against hatred and violence, and work towards a world where peace and understanding prevail. #September11 #NeverForget

City of Elk Grove Issues Statement Regarding Legal Settlement with State Over Oak Rose Development In February, the City settled the dispute with the Oak Rose project applicant that resulted in a relocated project with additional units that better meets the City’s affordable housing needs. The State’s litigation had no impact on the outcome of that case and the City is pleased that the State has agreed to settle the matter without significant impact to the City. Today’s settlement announcement underscores Elk Grove’s continued commitment to the development of all forms of affordable housing and its focus on putting its resources towards its housing goals. Since 2004, Elk Grove has provided $78 million in funding for affordable housing projects in Elk Grove, including transitional housing and permanent supportive housing. Elk Grove is proud of the role it has played as a leader in the development of affordable housing in the region. The City is hopeful that in the future the State will work more collaboratively with cities to partner in the development of affordable housing rather than use precious resources in the pursuit of unnecessary litigation. #            #            #
