Congratulations to our Wastewater Treatment Team for winning the prestigious Gold Peak Performance Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) for the fourth year in a row! This incredible achievement recognizes our facility’s commitment to maintaining outstanding compliance with water quality requirements. The award signifies no permit violations throughout the year, a task that becomes more challenging to earn each year. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. Gainesville is proud to be among the 176 treatment facilities nationwide that achieved this honor in 2023. We continue to strive for a clean report in 2024. A big shoutout to our team members— Eric Hook, Rene Nava Jr., Jeremy Landers, James Weaver, Adam Phillips, Drew Pickle, Scott Grove —who have gone above and beyond in their roles. Their dedication is a key reason Gainesville continues to lead in clean water management. A special thanks to NACWA CEO Adam Krantz for recognizing our efforts and to Barry Sullivan, City Manager, for supporting our team’s achievements. Let's keep striving for excellence! 💧 #GainesvilleTX #PeakPerformance #CleanWaterExcellence

We had five people celebrate significant anniversaries this month and all of them also happen to be members of our first response teams: Gainesville Police and Gainesville Fire-Rescue! We are thankful for their hard work and commitment to our community as we serve our residents and make Gainesville a great, safe place to live and work. So please join us in congratulating these fine individuals on such significant milestones. Thanks to each of you for all that you do! We used grant funds to pay for this new UV disinfection system and, as Mr. Eric Hook points out, it's a valuable investment not only in how we treat waste water, but it's also a huge win for improved safety for our staff and the Gainesville community. Also, we saved millions in capital costs (compared to rebuilding the plant in the previous system) and continue to save over $200,000 in annual operational expenses because of this new system. Great job, WWTP staff! Thank you for all of your hard work in implementing this important new tool to help us better serve our community.
Here at Gainesville WWTP, the staff receive their training on the new WEDECO Duron UV disinfection system. We’re very excited to move forward with the new system. We feel like it’s a leap forward for the safety of the community and for the WWTP staff.

We meet and exceed the standards for transparency in government. We are of the first group of cities to earn the newest Transparency Star from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, who notified recipients last week. This star, for Open Government and Compliance, means that we are also in the first group to earn all six Transparency Stars. Our goal in earning these stars is to promote transparency, accountability, and public trust in us. City Manager Barry Sullivan says, "As fiduciaries of public funds, this achievement reflects our unwavering dedication to providing clear and comprehensive information to our residents." The city gets reviewed annually for each star's criteria to make sure we keep up with updating our information. Many thanks to you, residents of Gainesville, TX, for trusting us to serve you with integrity and transparency!

We are thrilled to announce that we've secured $4.6 million in grants from the Texas Department of Transportation for a transformative project! "This funding represents a remarkable opportunity for our beloved Gainesville," emphasized Mayor Tommy Moore in a recent press release. These grants will pave the way for a new sidewalk, connecting Gainesville High School, NCTC, and all the communities on the west side of I-35 to our vibrant downtown. This addition promises to become a hub for active living and enhance our quality of life. We couldn't be more excited about this timely and much-needed city enhancement.
