At last week's City Council meeting, the City approved nine resolutions authorizing Community Development to administer about $300,000 in grants from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA). 🏛️ "The City of Huntsville is committed to supporting our most vulnerable residents by partnering with organizations that provide essential services to those experiencing homelessness," said Scott Erwin, Manager of Community Development. 🎉 Congratulations to The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball player Tommy Murr for being named to the 2024-25 NABC Division II All-America Team! 🏀👏 Tommy was also honored as the Gulf South Conference Player of the Year! The Athens, Alabama, native ended the season with an impressive 688 points and capped off his two-year Charger career with 1,218 points, ranking 17th overall in UAH history. 🔥 Last September, Tommy even lent his talents to Mayor Battle during the Mayor's annual State of the City address at the VBC. 🚲 U.S. Paralympics Cycling is having their Time Trial race in Cummings Research Park this Saturday, March 29. Tomorrow, March 20 at 9 a.m., the City of Huntsville will activate a Rectangular Rapid-Flashing Beacon (RRFB) near McGucken Park to improve pedestrian safety by alerting drivers and ensuring safer crossings. The RRFB will enhance visibility and slow traffic for safer pedestrian travel.
