"Show Up to Shine,” isn't just a slogan; it’s a call to action about the importance of school attendance at every grade level. It’s a commitment to our children’s futures and to the promise that every student has the chance to reach their full potential. "Education is everything," said Mayor Donna Deegan. "It shapes our future leaders, innovators, and citizens. But every day missed is a missed opportunity for growth, learning, and achievement. That’s why it is important to address this challenge head-on and to champion being present, both physically and mentally, in the classroom." Thank you to Duval County Public Schools, READ USA INC, the Duval County Clerk of Courts, and several other community and business leaders for their partnership on this crucial initiative.

It's so awesome to see everyone - not just the skaters - enjoying the new Artist Walk Skatepark 🛹 Thanks to CA Skateparks, JaxParks, Mayor Donna Deegan, and the City Council for all of your help turning these 3 blocks of dirt underneath the Fuller Warren Bridge into a destination for all! "Although the primary function here is skating, the mission of this space is to build off an art walk foundation," said Mayor Deegan. "Think of the park’s design as a flowing art piece. We know getting families and kids are really excited to get out and enjoy it." Stay tuned for updates on Phase 2 of construction featuring improvements to the Park Street side of Artist Walk, as well as the art and sculpture space closest to Riverside Avenue.

ICYMI: The newest public art installation from the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville was unveiled in Stockton Park Tuesday during a moving ceremony. "On Allison's Wings" honors Allison Brundick Haramis and the amazing work of Angels for Allison, the non-profit named in her memory. The Angels For Allison the Allison Brundick Haramis Foundation Inc provides financial support towards the funeral costs of the loss of a child. To date, they have helped over 1,000 Northeast Florida families cope with their unimaginable loss. The sculpture, created by David Main of Main Made Studios, is part of the Cultural Council's Art In Public Places Program. The mission is the procurement, maintenance, restoration, installation, and the responsible stewardship of public art throughout the City.
