🗳️🚨 In accordance with the recent Wisconsin Supreme Court decision in Priorities USA v. WEC, the City of Sheboygan has reinstalled a secure Ballot Drop Box in the drive-thru lane of the Mead Public Library! This drop box is now available 24/7 for voters to conveniently deposit their completed absentee ballots. 🕛 Remember, the deposit slot will lock at noon on Election Day to ensure all ballots are properly counted. The drop box meets the Wisconsin Elections Commission's best practices for security. 🛡️ You can return your absentee ballots through: 1. City Clerk's Office (828 Center Avenue): Before noon on Election Day. 2. United States Postal Service: Must be received by the City Clerk's Office by Election Day. 3. Specific Polling Location: On Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. 4. 💚🤎❤️Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce that the Civil War had ended and all enslaved people were free - over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. This day, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, marks an important milestone in the journey toward racial equality and justice. While it commemorates the official end of slavery, it also serves as a reminder that the fight for true freedom continues. Juneteenth celebrations include gatherings of family and community, with food, music, and activities honoring African American history, culture, and resilience in the face of oppression. It is a day to reflect on progress made while renewing our commitment to building a more equitable society for all.💚🤎❤️
