  • Today, on #NationalGoodSamaritanDay, we're proud to highlight two of our employees who went the extra mile to help an elderly couple who were stranded on the side of the road last year in the summer heat. Todd, a Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Technician, and Edgar, a Transportation Field Worker, saw a car with its hazard lights on next to the freeway. They stopped to offer them water and realized they had a flat tire. Due to health issues, the man couldn’t change the tire himself or reach anyone on his phone. So Todd and Edgar changed the tire and followed them home to ensure they made it safely. When the man offered to pay, they immediately declined. Todd said it wasn’t about the money. “It just feels good inside," he said. "If it were my mom or dad, I’d want someone to do the same.” In a world where many drive by, we’re proud our employees stopped to help. #TheMesaWay #MesaKindness

  • March is National Procurement Month, a phenomenal opportunity to recognize and highlight our procurement staff's extraordinary contributions. Our Procurement Services Department—responsible for sourcing and purchasing items for the City—is a vital part of our daily operations. They help ensure we acquire quality materials in a timely and cost-effective manner. It's not an easy task and we appreciate our award-winning procurement team! For twenty years in a row, they have earned the “Achievement of Excellence in Procurement" award from the National Procurement Institute. Additionally, they received the UPPCC Sterling Award for meeting the Agency Certification criteria for three consecutive years. Procurement Services is also an Accredited agency with NIGP, The Institute for Public Procurement. We congratulate them on their continued success. #NationalProcurementMonth #TheMesaWay
