Yesterday, we had the honor of attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the opening of this vital infrastructure. The event was well-attended, with over 200 stakeholders, media, local officials, engineers, contractors, and residents present to witness this significant achievement. Clark Dietz, Inc. is proud to have been part of this transformative project, providing professional construction engineering services for the new intersection connecting Longmeadow Parkway to IL 25 in Carpentersville. Our team's hard work and dedication were recognized when we were named "Construction Engineering Firm of the Year" by Kane County, Illinois for this project. A big thank you to Al Lapinskas, PE, Alec Field, Chester Kochan, and Nirav Patel, for representing our team at the event. The bridge was officially opened to the public at 6 PM yesterday, marking the first time that the entire Longmeadow Parkway corridor is fully operational. This summer I had the pleasure of working with Clark Dietz as a construction engineering intern. I was able to work on a couple of job sites in the I-80 corridor for the Illinois Department of Transportation, with my main site being River Road bridge reconstruction over I-80 in the village of Shorewood. I gained knowledge this summer by surveying retaining walls, pouring bridge decks, inspecting contractor’s work, confirming the project was built per plan, reviewing field and office documentation, and so much more. My second site was the Wheeler Avenue bridge reconstruction over I-80 in the village of Joliet where I was able to monitor some punch list work. It was an excellent summer working alongside my mentor Al Lapinskas, PE and Alec Field. I am thankful for the knowledge they have provided me throughout the summer, and making my experience at Clark Dietz special. I am excited to take my experience with me back to ONU for my senior year, and to share my experience with others.

A trio of us from Clark Dietz, Inc. (plus one) ran the Run for World Water 5k this morning. It is a fun annual event for a good cause. And I was pleasantly surprised by my results! Broke 20 minutes and finished 5th overall! I’m not running as much as I used to…but I still have a little speed in reserve.

We've got asphalt down, folks! The first segment of the #MononSouthTrail was paved this week in Orleans, Indiana by MAC Construction. This segment was designed by USI Consultants, Inc., and now Clark Dietz, Inc. is overseeing construction. Orleans is the "Dogwood Capital of Indiana", and Taylor Siefker Williams Design Group designed two dogwood tree alleys along the trail which users will eventually be able to enjoy. Thanks to Brent Drinkut of IDNR for the drone photography. Thanks also to Lochmueller Group, SESCO Group, Banning Engineering, S&ME, and Jason DeRuyver (HDR) for their help on the project.
