The production of just one GWh of batteries generates about 5,000 metric tons of sodium sulfate – a chemical byproduct posing a colossal challenge for the entire battery supply chain. Hear from Micha Ben-Naim on how our newest portfolio company, Aepnus Technology, is set to tackle the millions of tons of sodium sulfate waste generated annually through battery production with their groundbreaking electrolyzer technology to: ⚡ Create value by converting the waste into cost-competitive and carbon-neutral chemicals crucial to the energy transition ⚡ Offer broader applicability for electrifying chemical processing & manufacturing in many other sectors currently powered by fossil fuels (think: metals refining, low carbon cement, CO2 electrolysis and more) ⚡ Promise multi-gigaton-scale impact on GHG emissions over the coming decades Read more about how Lukas Hackl, Bilen Akuzum and the Aepnus team are improving circularity and reducing emissions in battery supply chain chemicals: https://lnkd.in/eiWW9mFP

Nth Cycle made history this week as they unveiled the first commercial cobalt nickel refinery in the US to recycle essential energy transition metals and eliminate supply chain bottlenecks for clean energy markets. We had the honor of joining Nth Cycle at their ribbon cutting for their new refinery as their 20,000-square-foot facility begins operations in Fairfield, Ohio, to process black-mass and other nickel scrap. Great to see support from Congressman Brad Wenstrup, officials with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Fairfield Mayor Mitch Rhodus, Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval, State Representative Jennifer Gross and more. We’re so proud of Megan O'Connor and the incredible work the team is accomplishing to decarbonize the metals and battery industry.
