2002: In 1999, the Cleveland Browns returned for a full season for the first time since the franchise departed in 1995. Four years later, the Browns would make their first playoff appearance since returning. Led by Head Coach Butch Davis and Running Back William Green, the Browns would beat the Atlanta Falcons 24-16 the last game of the season to increase their chance of making the playoffs. Results between the Jets-Packers and Patriots-Dolphins would determine the Browns playoff fate, but it was this game that made this a memorable moment for Cleveland sports. 🏈 Celebrate with us by sharing your favorite Cleveland sports memories as we prepare for the 25th Greater Cleveland Sports Awards presented by Medical Mutual and Ancora Holdings Group. 2001: On Aug. 5, the Cleveland Indians, now Cleveland Guardians, tied the record for the largest comeback in MLB history. Trailing 14-2 to the Seattle Mariners in the 7th inning, the Indians would go on to score 12 runs over the next three innings. The game was forced into extra innings where Jolbert Cabrera hit a walk-off single in the 11th inning to win the game.
