Throughout June, during our Men’s Health Month Innovation Spotlight series, we’re highlighting advancements in men’s health, including mental health.
According to the World Health Organization, almost 800,000 people die by suicide every year, with men making up 75% of that figure. Over the years, the stigma around seeking help for mental health (viewing this as a sign of weakness or not masculine) has contributed to many men not reaching out when they need it.
Online therapy and resources, like HeadsUpGuys, are bridging the gap and providing support for men living with mental health issues, including anxiety and depression. From self-guided courses to help finding a therapist, the organization helps break down the stigma of mental health so men can get the help they need.
