We were highly impressed by Daniella's approach to teaching greenhouse gases. Not only did she explain the theoretical concepts, but she also took the lesson a step further by incorporating a #practical demonstration. She brought in a solar-powered irrigation pump, showing the students how renewable energy can be used in real-world applications to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Please read my keynote speech delivered at the Climate Leadership Fellowship (CLF) orientation event, where we welcomed 30 exceptional fellows from 18 states across Nigeria in August 2024! These remarkable individuals are leaders of climate organizations, passionate advocates, dedicated government workers, and enthusiastic climate supporters. In my speech, I emphasized the urgent need for climate action, the critical role of youth leadership, and the importance of complementing and collaboration instead of competition. We are cultivating a new generation of leaders prepared to tackle the climate crisis and create a sustainable future for all.

Her innovative use of old cartons and markers to create an interactive learning environment beautifully exemplifies the principles of reuse and sustainability. The Climate Leadership Fellowship (CLF) is excited to partner with Climate Emergency: Feedback Loops to use their educative climate films produced by Moving Still production as part of our Adopt a Community program where our fellows will teach #climate #change and educate community members in rural areas who are mostly illiterate. 70% of Nigerians are unaware about climate change according to world Gallup poll. This is part of the problem the Climate Leadership Fellowship (CLF) is tackling. The short explanatory films are translated in 3 main Nigerian languages #Igbo, #Hausa and #Yoruba (and into 27 other languages) and has been arranged and stored in the flash drives for easy use by our fellows. With 30 of our current fellows scattered around the six geopolitical zones of #Nigeria (+ 170 others in the alumni) - majorly in states with rural communities speaking predominantly Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo, this tool will make for a great educational material! Especially as internet connectivity can be an issue in some rural areas, these films stored in flash drives make it easy for our fellows to educate the community members easily without this challenge. Household air #pollution from traditional cooking methods is responsible for around 500,000 premature deaths annually, with women and children bearing the brunt. We are happy to have Mr Stanley Igwebuike Ijeoma, a Board Member at Climate Strategies and a climate expert to teach our fellows about the strategies and prospects for clean cooking to avert the devastating effects of dirty cooking practices in Africa and the critical need for clean cooking solutions during an expert LIVE class. #CleanCooking #ClimateAction #CLF

But does renewable #energy make sense economically? What are the parameters? Our fellows engaged in a Live class with an expert covering the Business Case of Renewable Energy. This subject matter is important as our fellows are being prepared to tackle climate challenges and one of the ways they will do that is through creating renewable energy businesses. I Just had the incredible opportunity to present a conference paper on "Rainfall Variability and Floods: A Study of Makurdi Catchment, Benue State, Nigeria"! As an advocate for environmental sustainability & climate change, and a fellow of Climate Leadership Fellowship (CLF), I'm deeply passionate about addressing the critical issues impacting our communities. In Makurdi, rainfall 🌧️ patterns have become increasingly unpredictable, leading to prolonged Little Dry seasons (IDS) & devastating floods that disrupt lives, destroy homes, and damage our environment. By understanding these patterns, we can develop better strategies to mitigate flood risks and protect our communities. Let's continue the conversation on climate resilience and sustainable solutions. We are incredibly proud to introduce the 30 exceptional fellows of Cohort 6 of the Climate Leadership Fellowship (CLF) selected from a pool of 1300 applications and comprising of passionate climate advocates from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria representing a diverse range of sectors including clean cooking, electric vehicles, solar power, and the broader energy transition. Over the next 12 weeks, these fellows will undergo intensive #climatechange training delivered by leading experts in the field. They will be equipped with climate education toolkits to inspire the next generation by teaching climate change in schools across Nigeria through the Adopt a School project. In addition, they will generate cutting-edge climate #data and recommend solutions to local climate change impact in the communities where they will serve, fostering sustainable development at the grassroots level. Each fellow will also be inducted into the prestigious School of Climate Action, joining a network of leaders committed to driving impactful change. This is beyond a program.
