Climate Hawai'i was proud to attend Thursday's announcement of the historic climate lawsuit settlement between youth plaintiffs and the State of Hawai'i. We were encouraged by the words of Governor Josh Green, Hawai'i DOT Director Ed Sniffen, Deputy AG Ciara Kahahane, Our Children's Trust attorney Andrea Rodgers, and especially the children who brought the suit. They all spoke of the courage and partnership needed to address our climate challenge. We couldn't agree more and we appreciate their leadership!

We'd like to congratulate Earthjustice, the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation, and Governor Josh Green's administration for coming together and reaching a settlement agreement in the Navahine v. HDOT climate lawsuit. This historic settlement will reorient the state's transportation with a stronger climate and decarbonization focus. https://lnkd.in/g25MtZXC

Exciting news! 🌍 The HEC Climate Coalition is now Climate Hawai'i, featuring a fresh new logo that symbolizes our commitment to a unified and socially equitable climate response. As an initiative of HEC, alongside Rediscovering Hawaii’s Soul, Climate Hawaiʻi has already assisted 45 companies and organizations in becoming Climate Pledge Signers, setting carbon reduction targets, and creating actionable plans. On Thursday, Governor Josh Green signed into law three bills that will help condo associations and owners at a time when they face tremendous financial pressures, in large part due to climate change. Climate Hawai'i was proud to be there and to get a shout out from House Speaker Scott Saiki for our advocacy of the Solar Hui bill.

Climate Hawai'i -- founded in 2022 as the Hawaii Executive Collaborative's Climate Coalition -- was inspired in large part by the work and advocacy of Dr. Chip Fletcher, a leading climate scientist and our co-chair for the past two years.
