Rooted in Hawaii's soul and comprised of a group of leaders committed to making our islands a better place.
About us
The Hawaii Executive Collaborative is a group of business and civic leaders dedicated to making Hawaii a better place. This group is committed to the CHANGE framework, a movement to create an environment where everyone has the ability to make a living and thrive in Hawaii. These leaders pledge to strategically align themselves with the different CHANGE sectors to assess issues, share data and present findings so that we can move the needle on persistent issues that plague our state, such as education, affordable housing, health and wellness. In 2020, the Collaborative will focus on early childhood learning (universal preschool), housing affordability and making sure all of Hawaii’s people are counted in the 2020 Census.

Join us as we explore the initiative that works to protect, honor, and perpetuate Hawaiʻi’s Soul - the very essence of Hawaiʻi – that can help guide us through uncertain times and into the future. The Rediscovering Hawai‘i’s Soul (RHS) network enables leaders to find common ground and ways to work together to reimagine a future for Hawai‘i that is thriving, inclusive, and grounded in Hawaiian values and our diverse cultures. It began in 2022 with a gathering of Native Hawaiian leaders, CEOs, and nonprofit and community leaders, who converged to co-create the possible futures of Hawai‘i’s Soul. Today, more than 150 businesses and organizations are now collaborating through the teachings of Hawai‘i’s Soul to bring positive change statewide. Listen in as we delve into the deep meaning, history, and value of Hawaiʻi, and discuss the urgency and collective commitment needed to preserve our island home. Speakers: • Governor John Waiheʻe III • Michelle Kauhane, Senior Vice President and Chief Impact Officer, Hawaii Community Foundation • Kamanaʻo Crabbe • Māpuana de Silva, Kumu Hula & Founder, Halau Mohala Ilima • Moderator: Lynelle Marble, Executive Director, Hawaii Executive Collaborative The 11th Annual Leadership Conference is July 19 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. By collaborating with Kamehameha Schools and other thought leaders, they are working on projects to ensure that future generations of Native Hawaiians can continue to call Hawaiʻi Home. Did you know there was a recent study in which 6-year-old girls and boys were asked to reward themselves with candy based on tasks they’d accomplished? Across the board, boys rewarded themselves more. Across similar studies in middle and high schools, boys paid themselves more by 68 percent. Joanne Lipman, bestselling author, award-winning journalist, and deputy managing editor for the Wall Street Journal, says it's an example of how women can often underestimate their professional worth. Lipman shared this and other insights during a workshop last week at the HCF headquarters about closing the gender gap in the workplace. The Hawai‘i Executive Collaborative, along with the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, the Holomūa Collective, and the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, co-sponsored this workshop. This workshop featured an overview by Lipman on obstacles women confront in the workplace and best practices to overcome them, followed by a participatory workshop and discussion. Learn more about Lipman, including her recent talk at the UH Better Tomorrow Speaker Series, at https://lnkd.in/g94AkyCR. Also check out her most recent book, "NEXT! The Power of Reinvention in Life and Work," anywhere books are sold.

“The world needs aloha and if we can engage this way, we can make Hawai‘i’s Soul proliferate.” In Hawaiʻi, we do things differently. That often becomes clear in our response to difficult and unprecedented challenges. How can we share the spirit of aloha to make Hawai‘i's influence grow worldwide? Leave a comment below ⬇️ Mahalo Herb for sharing your manaʻo at the Rediscovering Hawaiʻi’s Soul (RHS) Accelerator Workshop.

“Even though we are in different groups, we are in the same room.” The unique beauty of Hawaiʻi is our ability to come together despite apparent differences because of our deep sense of kuleana and aloha for our island home. While Lehua was referring to the different hui that made up our Rediscovering Hawai‘i’s Soul (RHS) Accelerator Workshop, this sentiment can also be applied to any scenario that requires collective participation from diverse stakeholders. Showing up and being in the room is the first step towards progress. Mahalo, Lehua for your manaʻo and participation.

“Relationships are the point, not the tool.” This is so true, especially in Hawaiʻi. Leave a 💚 if you agree. Reflecting on our Rediscovering Hawaiʻi’s Soul (RHS) Accelerator Workshop, we were grateful for hui participation and captured these beautiful words from a few of the hui representatives. This sentiment applies beyond RHS and captures what it means to be part of this special place we call home. Mahalo for your manaʻo, Jon.
