When it comes to combating climate change, the ocean is one of our greatest resources. Novel marine CDR (mCDR) technologies have an important role to play in leveraging the ocean’s natural CO2 sequestration capabilities to safely and effectively reduce atmospheric CO2 levels. In our recent blog, we outline why establishing clear and comprehensive MRV standards is essential for the development and scaling of credible mCDR projects: https://hubs.la/Q02SQ69X0 #CDR #climatechange #carbon removal #MRV #mcdr

🌍 Happy first ever Carbon Removal Day! 🌍 The new October 3 holiday is dedicated to raising awareness about why scalable, innovative solutions for capturing and removing CO2 is essential to our planet's future survival: https://hubs.la/Q02S2RBk0 Carbon dioxide removal (CDR) is crucial to addressing climate change, as reducing emissions alone won't get us to net-zero. At Climate Vault, we're proud to be part of the movement to accelerate credible, high-quality carbon removal solutions that can help verifiably tackle the climate crisis. Learn more about why CDR matters and how you can take action by reading our blog at https://hubs.la/Q02S2Sgk0 #CarbonRemovalDay #CDR #ClimateAction #carbonremoval #netzero

🌍👏 What an inspiring time at Climate Week NYC last week! We're so proud of our very own Brynn Esterly, M.S., Head of Carbon Removal Solutions at Climate Vault, for being our eyes and ears on the ground and contributing to the important conversations being had around mitigating climate change. From the importance of scaling carbon removal and the power of markets to the role of public sector leadership, the messages and key themes Brynn highlights below couldn’t be more relevant as we work toward a net-zero future. #ClimateWeekNYC #NetZero #CarbonRemoval
🌎✨ This year’s Climate Week NYC was an exciting and inspiring week (that I’m still catching my breath from)! Thank you Climate Group, Flowcarbon, Puro.earth and IETA for hosting engaging and insightful events across the city. Looking back on the week, there are 3 key messages that resonated most with me: ✅ Reductions and Removals are Needed Today There are three ways that companies can meaningfully support CDR technologies today: Build. Buy. Invest. Companies with #netzero targets need to pursue deep emission reductions in tandem with carbon removal. If companies do not support the growth and scaling of #CDR technologies today, it is likely that the vital carbon removal credits they will need to achieve their net-zero targets will be unavailable in the future. ✅ Public Sector Leadership is Critical for Driving Scale Governments provide a critical first step to supporting nascent CDR technologies and attracting additional private sector interest. For example, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has engaged in the direct purchase of carbon removal credits, helped develop critical infrastructure, and created incentives for new buyers to enter the market. I hope to see the size and scope of these programs grow in the years ahead to support a variety of CDR solutions across geographies. ✅ The Power of Markets At Climate Vault, we believe in the power of markets to solve complex challenges and there is no bigger challenge facing our society than climate change. I’m excited and intrigued by the discussions happening across the compliance carbon markets (CCMs) about whether and how to incorporate CDR into these systems. Incorporating carbon removal into CCMs, such as by requiring regulated entities to purchase a specified number of carbon removal credits, could be transformative in helping CDR companies grow and scale. Finally, I would be remiss if I ended this post without also giving a huge “thank you” to Gordon Bennett and the teams at ICE and the NYSE for inviting me to share the stage (photo below) with James Davis (Oliver Wyman), Harris Cohn (Charm Industrial), Adrian Siegrist (Climeworks), and Anthony Cottone (1PointFive) for a discussion on the intersection of #climatescience and #economics as we scale engineered carbon removal solutions. Did anyone else in my network attend Climate Week NYC? If so, I am curious to know what themes and messages stuck out most to you as well. Leave me a comment below! #VaultIt #CDR #ClimateAction #Sustainability #ClimateWeekNY

🌎 At Climate Vault, we believe that innovative carbon dioxide removal (CDR) solutions are essential to winning the fight against climate change and restoring balance to the Earth's natural carbon cycle. 🌊 Oceans, some of the planet's largest natural carbon sinks, can play a pivotal role in achieving climate goals. One area of great promise is Marine CDR (mCDR), which leverages the ocean's natural ability to store carbon and reduce emissions. 💡 In our recent blog, we explore the challenges and opportunities of 4 mCDR project types that we think could help save the planet: https://hubs.la/Q02RLMb-0 #CDR #mCDR #carbonremoval #climatechange #netzero

🌎Climate Vault's Brynn Esterly, M.S. recently attended the inaugural Advancing Ocean CDR Summit in Boston, where the spotlight was on a crucial topic—monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) for ocean-based carbon dioxide removal (CDR): https://hubs.la/Q02Rys1m0 Some key takeaways included: ✅ The importance of robust MRV systems to ensure the integrity of ocean-based CDR projects. ✅ The need for collaboration between researchers and policymakers to drive regulatory frameworks forward. ✅ Promising innovations in data collection and monitoring technologies, which are critical for scaling ocean CDR solutions. 💧As ocean-based solutions gain traction, rigorous MRV practices will be essential in delivering measurable and transparent results. Thanks to the Hanson Wade Group for hosting a great event and enabling us to be a part of the conversations shaping the future of CDR. #CarbonRemoval #OceanCDR #MRV #ClimateAction #Sustainability #mCDR

Thank you to the Telesto Strategy team for hosting a great event in Chicago last week during Chicago Climate Tech Week. With an expert panel, hands-on workshop, and engaging networking session, the event sparked lively discussions on how we can develop new solutions to accelerate global decarb faster and cheaper. Our key takeaway from Climate Vault CEO Jonathan Cohen's workshop was that organizations often need to be helped as they take the first step on their climate action journey—especially when it comes to measuring their carbon footprint. Check out the full event recap to explore how your organization can take meaningful steps toward decarbonization. → https://hubs.la/Q02Rq1f70 #ChiClimateWeek24 #climatechange #decarb #netzero #sustainability

Carbon dioxide removal (CDR) is a critical tool in the fight against climate change. These technologies—many of which are still in development and need our support— have the potential to rebalance our carbon budget and mitigate the most adverse effects of climate change. But as we’ve seen with the scandals that have plagued the traditional voluntary carbon markets (VCMs), not all carbon credits are created equal. It's important to have standards in place to ensure that carbon removal projects are of high quality and deliver their promised impact, in order to avoid the same shortcomings as traditional VCM projects: https://hubs.la/Q02Q_n370 #CDR #climatechange #carbonremoval #netzero
