Trading desks experiment with the power of AI for alpha generation - When implemented effectively, AI-powered solutions can automate repetitive tasks, enhance integration across desparate systems and uncover valuable insights to boost alpha performance. Market practitioners at Equities Leaders Summit in Miami this week explored what AI means for the trading desk, and how it can help firms to parse information from fragmented data points to improve trading decisions. "AI is not coming for your job. However, somebody who's properly using AI is probably going to take your job," says Jesse Forster. Euromoney | Laurie McAughtry https://lnkd.in/e-Cj7m8n

A new study by Coalition Greenwich analyst Audrey Costabile PhD posits that Mortgage Backed Securities trading will electronify over the next five years. Market participants are optimistic according to the study. Automation is a top priority for buy-side firms, with portfolio managers and traders seeking tools that enable seamless order execution and reduce operational risk. The growing role of non-bank liquidity providers in MBS markets mirrors trends seen in corporate bonds, potentially deepening liquidity and reducing reliance on traditional dealer networks. In conclusion, while the path to full electronification in the MBS market is ongoing, the electronification trajectory is set to mirror other credit market segments. To be on par, the share of electronic trading in MBS volume would double. Learn more --> Electronification is set to grow in MBS markets https://lnkd.in/e5-WPVBy The DESK

According to Crisil Coalition Greenwich, investment grade e-trading notional was up a third in 2024 to $18.7 billion compared with a year earlier, and prop firms have been eating into bank market share – accounting for a tenth of credit market-making revenue in 2024. The rise has in part been driven by exchange-traded funds (ETFs) creating daily demand for bonds. U.S. investment grade and high yield focused ETFs saw positive net inflows of over $20 billion in 2024, Coalition Greenwich said in the same report. Risk.net Bernard Goyder https://lnkd.in/ecB3ZR2f
