What a week in Munich at electronicaFair! 100% my favorite part is the time spent reconnecting with old colleagues Altium®'s Chris Sepulveda, and Daniel Schoenfelder, Edgewater Research's Dennis Reed and Component Search's Alex Sapp - And - the fantastic time with my Cofactr team, Anthony Blair, Matthew Haber, Phillip Gulley, and Nino Hardin. Between the pretzels for breakfast, German-German Shepherds, "Curling", Bier and more electronic industry professionals I could ever imagine I would say it was a great experience. As the marketing person on the team, I am always happy to learn something new, meet someone new, or take 1000 pictures of the event. It is always a bonus when you love what you do and who you work with. If you do not know about Cofactr, it is time you did. I am definitely a loyal person and give my all to what I care about - and I care about Cofactr. I truly believe we are doing special things for hardware and manufacturing, solving real supply chain challenges and having a lot of fun doing it.

At Cofactr, we take ITAR compliance seriously. As an ITAR-registered company, we offer an ITAR-compliant platform designed to protect your export-controlled technical data. Here's how we ensure your data remains secure: 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: Our platform features strong security controls, including end-to-end encryption, and is hosted in the secure AWS GovCloud region. All components of our technology stack that access technical data (like BOMs) are deployed within our AWS GovCloud VPC. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹: Every employee with access to customer data is a US person and receives mandatory recurring ITAR procedures training to ensure compliance. 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲: Customer technical data is exclusively stored within our AWS hosting environment, ensuring no external storage. 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Our customer parts are held in Cofactr's secure facility, which is equipped with extensive physical and personnel security measures. 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗥? For a deeper understanding of how ITAR relates to software for hardware, check out an insightful blog post by our CEO, Matthew Haber; the link is in the comments below. #ITAR #ExportControl #DataSecurity #Cofactr #Compliance

A Bill of Materials (BOM) is a vital tool for sourcing electrical components in Cofactr. Typically, these BOMs are initially created using tools like KiCad, Altium, or other ECAD software. Any BOM intended for a Contract Manufacturer will integrate seamlessly with Cofactr. Cofactr requires just two key pieces of information to source your parts effectively: the Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) and the quantity or reference designators (which inherently indicate quantities). Electrical engineering teams frequently upload BOMs to evaluate component availability during the design phase. Cofactr provides invaluable support in supply chain planning, especially during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase, ensuring that finished BOMs can be sourced efficiently. With Cofactr, you can expect to match more parts with high-quality sourcing options than other tools, enhancing your design process. #Cofactr #BOM #SupplyChain #Electronics #Engineering

𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱! 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗿 Are you looking to buy exclusively from your Preferred Suppliers? Cofactr can help make this easy with Purchase Rules when you designate suppliers as Preferred, Allowed, Last Resort, or Banned. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀? Purchase Rules in Cofactr allow you to set clear requirements and preferences for supplier selection. You can create and save multiple rules in your account, ensuring that your sourcing aligns with your organization's standards. 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱: 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀: When optimizing a purchase, if a part is available from any Preferred Supplier, that supplier will be prioritized—even if a lower-cost option exists elsewhere. 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀: Only parts from Allowed Suppliers will be considered. If a part isn't available from an Allowed Supplier, it won't be included in the purchase, ensuring strict adherence to your sourcing policies. 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀: Parts will be sourced from a Last Resort Supplier only if that is the only option available. However, if other suppliers can fulfill the order—even at a higher cost—they will take precedence. 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀: Suppliers marked as Banned will be completely ignored during the optimization process, ensuring you don't engage with them, even if they are the sole source for a part. 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆: This rule ensures that only Authorized Distributors for specific parts are considered, maintaining compliance with your procurement standards. 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Suppliers must possess specified certifications (e.g., AS9120) to include their parts, further aligning with your quality assurance measures. By leveraging Purchase Rules in Cofactr, you can enhance your sourcing efficiency and ensure compliance with your supplier preferences. #Cofactr #SupplyChain #Procurement #SupplierManagement #Efficiency #SourcingSolutions

𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 Simplifying processes, improving efficiency, and reducing manufacturing time all work together to reduce the time to market significantly. Less time spent on materials management and manufacturing results in faster production cycles and fewer supply chain disruptions. This allows product deliveries to become more efficient and predictable. When product deliveries are predictable, you can more effectively meet customer demand and accelerate time-to-market for new products and innovations. Our client, Neros Technologies‎, has seen first-hand how the combined effects of automation makes materials management easier. We helped their team avoid unexpected pitfalls at every stage of development. As a result, Neros accelerated their go-to-market time — from design to shipping to customers — by over a month.  Read the Neros story - use the link in the comments below.
