I had a realization today about an important aspect of the candidate interview process that many recruits are experiencing that candidates are not aware about. Sometimes (not always) we suck at sharing details with candidates. Often, when there's a delay in recruiters getting back to you, it's because we're fighting to get feedback or next steps from the hiring managers. (Karate kicks fighting) 😆 Personally, this is one of the most challenging and frustrating aspects of my job. Balancing a keen sense of urgency to provide candidates with the best hiring experience becomes particularly challenging when awaiting responses from hiring managers. And I am someone who is super annoying! – I'm persistent and proactive. I'll send messages, Team pings and make calls until I secure an answer. Nevertheless, as recruiters, we should aspire to improve our communication by offering candidates feedback even when there isn't much to convey. A message such as "I don't have any updates at the moment. I'll keep you informed as soon as I hear back" is a the minimal to keep candidates still engaged.
