The non-profit Colorado Hydrogen Network is sponsoring a first annual Colorado Hydrogen Day to showcase to legislators, the media and the public an overview of the progress made here in Colorado to deploy hydrogen as a Clean energy solution. The event will feature: ·      A one-hour Press Briefing for the media and Legislators addressed by the Colorado Energy Office Director Will Toor with time for Q&A. This will be concluded with a brief guided "walk around" for the group to put the companies, technology and Colorado hydrogen progress into context. ·      Outdoor display of hydrogen electric cars, trucks and a mobile hydrogen fueler – all operating in Colorado TODAY ·      An Exhibit Hall with displays by companies, organizations, state agencies and universities engaged in hydrogen technology in Colorado ·      Dozens of educational posters answering FAQ's about hydrogen safety, sources of hydrogen, and why we need hydrogen for the Energy Transition ·      Hourly drawings for educational energy kits, hydrogen hats, and free rentals of a Toyota Mirai hydrogen EV A highlight of the event is to feature an overview of the $9M grant awarded to Colorado State University (CSU)and New Day Hydrogen to deploy three public hydrogen fueling stations along the I-25 corridor. On Jan 11, the US DOT awarded almost $9 million to Colorado State University and New Day Hydrogen to design, build, deploy and operate 3 hydrogen fuel stations, the first public stations in Colorado. This historic event will give drivers and fleets a choice in Zero Emission Vehicles. Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV) provide the same performance and convenience as petroleum vehicles providing an easier transition to Electric Vehicles for users.  See press release: https://lnkd.in/g6sV6yxQ

It's absolutely clear that to have any hope of stopping climate change we need to replace 100% of vehicles, of all sizes, with Electric Vehicles - either battery or hydrogen. But an April 2023 poll by Gallup shows that only 12% of Americans are considering a battery EV and 41% are "unequivocal that they would not". Hydrogen vehicles are available, but hydrogen fuel stations are not. To fully decarbonize transportation, it is essential that we make hydrogen fuel stations available so that the 41% have a choice other than gas or diesel.
