The 2025 Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) Experiential Learning Programs Call for Proposals is now open! This call seeks proposals for experiential learning projects that provide Virginia students with the essential skills and knowledge to launch successful careers in cybersecurity. 🗓️ Proposal submissions are due on April 25, 2025 by 5pm ET. The proposed program must benefit students at more than one CCI institution. Projects that provide students with workforce experience will be prioritized. 🧐 What is digital security and why does it matter? 🧐 The concept can sound a little vague - but digital security is about data, how we intend to use it as a society, and how we secure it (ie more than cybersecurity but not excluding it). That's why it's important to talk about it in an interdisciplinary way that invites more stakeholders to the table, not fewer. Some of our faculty thinking and writing about these concepts are Eric Burger, Nataliya D. Brantly, PhD, Aaron Brantly, Shalini Misra, Patrick R., Sezaneh Seymour, and Mark Tirpak. It's also why we partner with the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) to help disseminate these concepts.

Resilience to cyberattacks (as well as to accidental failures) figures prominently in my three current National Science Foundation (NSF) projects. It is also a key objective of the work we all do in Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI). I had the opportunity to share some thoughts on the topic in a panel on Resilient 6G at IEEE WCNC. Resilience is a key research topic in Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) and the subject of our National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded project Concorse. Arshia Zolghadr, graduate student at Virginia Tech, presented his work using graph neural networks to detect and address conflicts between xApps in #ORAN, in IEEE WCNC today. Arshia is a great ambassador for the research on #ORAN taking place in Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI).
