Communities Care

Last week, the team at Communities Care was honored to be part of the Chain Reactions event hosted by our wonderful friends at TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods. We partnered with TELUS and other amazing organizations, such as Idahoan Foods, Riverside Natural Foods Ltd. (Home of MadeGood), Ventura Foods, and various individuals, to assemble over 200 Kindness Kits. These kits will help us continue supporting our mission to assist youth in need within our community. Each Kindness Kit includes: 🧼 Hygiene Essentials: Body wash, deodorants, wipes, feminine hygiene products, hairbrush or comb, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. 🥫 Non-Perishable Food: Nutritious items that can be stored and consumed over time. 🩹 First Aid Kit: Bandages, antiseptic wipes, and face masks. 📘 Resource Book: Information on community services, mental health resources, and support systems. 💌 Positive Messages: Uplifting and kind notes and cards by the community. These kits will be distributed during our upcoming kindness drive to youth in need in the shelter system. Yesterday at #TELUSChainReactions, we assembled Kindness Kits with Communities Care, a youth-led nonprofit in Toronto. These kits are filled with essential items and uplifting messages in support of local youth. Recapping our recent kindness drive in honor of Canada Day, celebrated on the traditional territory and land of Indigenous people 🧡. A few months ago, I started my journey as an Impact Documentary Producer with Communities Care, in partnership with HotDocs, to host a free screening event showcasing the powerful documentary "Someone Lives Here." The screening was followed by an impactful panel discussion, a donation drive, and a community dinner. This event was absolutely amazing. Not only did we reach full room capacity, but we also had a diverse group of attendees. We came together to discuss how we can be the change we need, helping and supporting our youth and community facing homelessness. Thank you, Communities Care, for such an impactful night and event.
