    A little more than 50 percent of residents of the Canal neighborhood in San Rafael work within ten miles of their home. To maintain housing affordability and live close to their jobs, many families are living in overcrowded conditions. We spoke to Mitzi Mazariegos, a young mother in San Rafael who worries that the high cost of housing is placing severe limits on the dreams she has for her and her son’s futures.  ••• Algo más del 50% de los residentes del barrio del Canal, en San Rafael, trabajan a menos de 15 km de su casa.     Access to funding is one of the main barriers to building affordable housing in Marin. Prop 5 gives local communities a powerful tool to create the housing we need.     The average Marin home costs over $1.5 million. The only way that thousands of young people, essential workers, and seniors are able to make it here is to rent. Have you worked hard to support communities of low income?   We welcome individuals to apply who can demonstrate either lived experience of poverty or work (paid or unpaid) alongside communities of low-income with relevance to the mission and vision of Community Action Marin.
