After our recent CHW graduation, our focus shifted towards planning and preparing for the upcoming Regional CHW Luncheon Recognition event hosted by CHWAR scheduled for the fall, marking 25 years since its inception.

At the Para Tu Salud Mujer Latina Event hosted by Ibero. We saw several of our previous students who are now working as CHWs or are Promotores De Salud volunteers in our community! We are so proud of them and their work!

Black Maternal Health Week was founded by Black Mamas Matter Alliance, and is a week of awareness, activism, and community-building aimed at amplifying the voices of Black Mamas and centering the values and traditions of the reproductive and birth justice movements. In America, Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than non-Hispanic white women. This reality is a symptom of a medical system with a long history of bias and systemic racism, compounded by negative outcomes in the social determinants of health (secure housing, access to care, healthy food, etc.) NACHW believes in birth equity for all, and we salute CHW doulas and birth workers standing in the gap to advocate for and support birthing women everyday. #BMHW24 #BirthEquity #BirthJustice

February 2024 The month celebration is a time to reflect on the past, acknowledge the continued struggle for racial justice and draw inspiration from the achievements of African Americans.

As racial disparities continue to impact maternal mortality rates in #NYC, #access to quality clinical and #socialcare remains crucial to improve patient outcomes for Black and Latinx pregnant persons. Congratulations to our recent CHW graduates! We want to thank Ibero American Action League for making it possible to provide free training to our students. Community health workers (CHWs) are central to driving health promotion and prevention strategies as part of community-based primary healthcare. A shortage of health professionals has driven an increase in the integration of CHWs as a key cadre to meet the health needs of society. We are proud of the work we do and of the many community leaders we get to work with.
