Compass Health CEO Tom Sebastian joined other local health care leaders at the 2024 Healthcare Summit, hosted by the Economic Alliance Snohomish County, this Tuesday to discuss plans to bridge the gap between medical, mental and behavioral health care in Snohomish County. For Compass Health, the key to bridging that gap lies in systemic reform that will help resolve deep-rooted problems within Washington state’s community behavioral health system. That’s why Compass Health and Tom have a been advocating for statewide adoption of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs): A nationally proven, evidence-based approach that will help ensure the sustainability and availability of high-quality community behavioral health care. Last week, our team attended the Exploring Careers & Healthcare Opportunities (ECHO) Tour at Edmonds College, where they shared insights into their career paths and discussed different opportunities within the mental health field. It was great to see students explore potential futures while feeling reassured that not knowing their exact path right now is perfectly okay. During one of the rotations, we worked with some middle school students, leading them through a breathing exercise designed to help manage anxiety. It was a great opportunity to engage in conversations about mental wellness and career opportunities in behavioral healthcare.
