It's working! Trauma Talks is working! Here are a couple of quotes from the men who completed our Trauma Talks curriculum: "This was the most significant program I have taken inside CDCR." "This information has helped create and solidify bonds with people inside and outside. We all have trauma, but we can all heal from trauma if we come together.” This is my view of the the Trauma Talks graduation at Correctional Training Facility in October. This photo means so much to me, seeing the men who dedicated 16-weeks of rigorous curriculum celebrating their achievement and growth. A day I'll never forget. #Gratitude #TraumaTalks #Authenticity #PostTraumaticGrowth #HealingInCommunity #ShiftHappens

We are excited to have Dick Schwartz, the founder of IFS (Internal Family Systems) (tag here!) on our podcast! When I started working with families in therapy, I found myself asking, Why aren’t we seeing the changes we hoped for? My clients began describing these internal 'parts'—different aspects of themselves that were often in conflict. Without any assumptions, I listened and learned. What emerged was a deeper understanding of how these parts relate, sometimes struggling, sometimes isolated—what we call ‘exiles.’ Coming from a systems background, I realized that just as families have dynamics, so do our inner worlds. This journey opened my eyes to the powerful concept of Internal Family Systems—a path to helping people heal by understanding their inner relationships. 💙🧠 #InternalFamilySystems #HealingJourney #MentalHealthAwareness #UnderstandingSelf

Our Trauma to Transformation workshop begins with the Compassion Trauma Circle, an exercise that introduces Adverse Childhood Experiences, otherwise known as ACEs. Adverse Childhood Experiences include: ➤ Emotional Abuse ➤ Sexual Abuse ➤ Physical Neglect ➤ Emotional Neglect ➤ Parents divorced or separated ➤ Domestic Violence ➤ Parent or caregiver addicted to drugs or alcohol ➤ Parent or caregiver who is depressed or mentally ill ➤ Household member ever been incarcerated Through our research we have discovered that 64% of the U.S. adult population has at least one ACE. But when we look at the incarcerated population that number jumps to 98%. With awareness of what happened to us in childhood and how it affected our development, we can all start to understand and heal from childhood trauma. To learn more about ACEs and to take the ACE Quiz, visit aces.cpp1.org today. #HealingJourney #TraumaAwareness #CompassionPrisonProject

Injury doesn’t have to be the end of the story. While the severity of brain injuries can vary, the exciting truth from decades of neuroscience research is that you’re not stuck with the brain you have—you can make it better! In my study with 400 NFL players, 80% showed improvement when they followed a rehabilitation program that focused on caring for the brain: avoiding things that hurt it, and doing things that help it. You can transform your brain’s health and recovery with the right steps. 🧠✨ Watch the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/g-A--KjB #BrainHealth #Neuroscience #BrainRecovery #HealingFromInjury #BrainCare #MindOverMatter

One out of every three veterans return home only to end up incarcerated. Fritzi Horstman, the founder of Compassion Prison Project, brings trauma awareness and healing to the veteran community at CTF Prison. With her guidance, these veterans are given a chance to evaluate the psychological cost of their childhoods, their military service, and their time spent in prison. Healing doesn’t happen in an instant, but awareness is the first step. Coming soon in 2025 #VeteransBehindBars #ShiftHappens

Another review about the effectiveness about our pilot Trauma Talks: “I share this class with my older son and his kids. I’ve told him the importance of healing from his trauma to help him with my grandsons.” This is an excerpt from Compassion Prison Project's 16-week curriculum Trauma Talks which we will be rolling out to prisons throughout the US and around the world. In this clip we discuss violence, how we might still be using violence as a solution - to ourselves and to others, the importance of awareness and recognizing our inherent value and worth. #ShiftHappens #TraumaToTransformation #TraumaTalks
