CLF forges lasting solutions for New England's most critical environmental challenges.
About us
Since 1966, Conservation Law Foundation has used the law, science, policymaking, and the business market to find pragmatic, innovative solutions to New England’s toughest environmental problems. Whether that means cleaning up Boston Harbor, protecting ocean fisheries to ensure continued supply, stopping unnecessary highway construction in scenic areas, or expanding access to public transportation, we are driven to make all of New England a better place to live, work, and play. What’s more, we have the toughness to hold polluters accountable, and the tenacity to see complex challenges through to their conclusion. CLF is also nimble enough to adjust course as conditions change to achieve the best outcomes. Our goal is not to preserve what used to be, but to create an even better New England — a region that’s truly thriving.

🚨 Red Line Shutdown on Election Day! 🗳️ Today, many people across the nation will rely on public transit to exercise their right to vote—a right that is central to our shared democratic values. Yet, in Boston, the partial shutdown of the Red Line between Quincy Center and Broadway Station means thousands of voters will face unnecessary barriers today, with fewer, slower options. Even though critical track work is essential, Election Day is an inopportune start that could potentially add just enough of a barrier to hinder someone’s vote. When access to transit is limited, access to the polls is limited. This decision will hit hardest for those who already face barriers—working parents, elderly residents, and individuals with disabilities who depend on reliable public transit to be part of our democratic process. While shuttle buses and the commuter rail are in place, the reality is that extra transfers and delays will make voting more difficult for many. We need to work together to demand our elected leaders prioritize reliable, fully accessible public transit that is there when we need it most. In the long run, this means expanded service during critical civic days like today. Despite these obstacles, let’s make every effort to get out and vote today—and tomorrow, let’s ask our leaders to recognize transit as a pillar of equity and democracy, one that should never be compromised. https://lnkd.in/e-j5qGjZ #PublicTransit #ElectionDay2024 #Vote2024 #TransitAccess #EquityInTransit #BostonTransit #TransitJustice #AccessibleTransit #CivicEngagement #MBTA MBTA City of Boston Conservation Law Foundation
