📀MOBO mission 2024 📀 recap of an unforgettable week of transatlantic collaboration. What an inspiring week it has been! Producers and beatmakers from the Netherlands and Curaçao teamed up with talented creatives from Atlanta, mixing European vibes with the unmistakable Southern energy of the U.S. 🎶 This collaboration was all about blending different styles, pushing creative boundaries, and sharing new perspectives on production techniques. From late-night sessions to spontaneous jam-outs, the atmosphere was electric and the creativity limitless. 🌌 Throughout the week, these artists explored everything from hip-hop to electronic, from R&B to soul music, exchanging insights on sound design, beat-making, and even some signature Dutch, Curaçao and ATL secrets. 🌐 The connections made and the knowledge shared have left everyone involved eager to keep building, creating, and crossing borders. Starting off the week right: Yesterday we made the first of two trips this week to Gwinnett for our first #ConsularConversations event OTP. The wide-ranging discussion focused on the growing trade and investment ties between Georgia and the #Netherlands, exemplified by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce’s trade mission to the country last year and meeting with the king and queen during this year's royal visit to Atlanta and Savannah. Thanks to Dutch Consul General Jacob (Jaap) Veerman for an engaging interview on the power of humility, listening, and knowledge-based collaboration between innovation ecosystems and universities. Beyond traction already seen in assisting Black-owned businesses going global, seeds sown at the event should blossom into fruitful educational and business partnerships with support from the Dutch ecosystem in Atlanta, including the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Atlanta, Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency Atlanta, Netherlands American Chamber of Commerce of the Southeastern United States and The Netherland-America Foundation Atlanta Chapter. A historian by training, the consul general also reminded those anxious about the election that 4-8 years is a “drop in the bucket” of time and predicted that U.S.-Netherlands-Europe partnership will continue as it has for centuries, perhaps with some policy adjustments, no matter who is in power. Nicholas "Nick" F. Masino outlined the scope of the global business community in Gwinnett, the fifth most diverse county in the United States (second east of the Mississippi), with about 25 percent of residents born outside the country. 📀The Atlanta HipHop / Black Music scene is already mobilized, lined up and very enthusiastic to work with their Dutch counterparts🎧 🎤. Alongside with partners BumaStemra, Buma Cultuur, Dutch Music Export , Henca Maduro (Epitome Entertainment) and Georgia State University, the Consulate General of the Netherlands is welcoming a delegation of producers and beatmakers from the Netherlands, including Curacao from October 23 to 29. 🎶Atlanta is considered the hip-hop capital of the United States. The evolution of hip-hop in Atlanta is a testament to the city’s spirit. During the visit of the Royal Couple to Georgia, a collaboration was stablished between artists in ATL and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Curaçao producer SMURV worked with Grammy award winning producer Troy Taylor. They produced a song now part of the upcoming project of R&B star Coco Jones. 🚀From panel discussions about doing business internationally to writing and recording sessions at Georgia State University studio, this week will be full of growth and new opportunities. The Global Produce and Floral Show 2024 Atlanta Greenhouse growers gathered in Atlanta last week to showcase their products to retailers, while horticultural suppliers explored opportunities to meet with them and discuss new developments and potential expansions. In collaboration with the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Atlanta, including Consul General Jacob (Jaap) Veerman and deputy Abdullahi HASHI and the Netherlands Agricultural Network in the USA and Canada ,including Counselor Ton van Arnhem and I attended the show to meet with Dutch businesses at the Holland Fresh Group pavilion and reconnect with other Dutch industry representatives. This year marked the show’s first return to Atlanta since 2015, featuring one of the largest floor plans in over a decade. More than 1,100 companies exhibited, attracting attendees from over 70 countries. The show consistently draws a wide range of greenhouse technology suppliers from the Netherlands. Looking back at last week most remarkable events, professors and academics from Maastricht University visited Augusta University, Georgia Institute of Technology and University of North Georgia to exchange on cyber security, AI, and computer science. The delegation also had the opportunity to visit Augusta University Cyber Operations Center. 🔐Partnership opportunities in cybersecurity between universities in the Netherlands and Georgia could take advantage of both regions' growing focus on cybersecurity education, research, and workforce development. 🛡️ Cybersecurity in the Netherlands is a critical priority, as the country is highly digitized and deeply integrated into global networks. CG Jacob (Jaap) Veerman alongside with the Water Alliance had a great welcome to The Water Tower, a global water innovation center providing solutions in research, technology innovation and industry engagement. ♻️This was a great opportunity to exchange knowledge between the Dutch Water Tecnolgy Center (WaterCampus) in Leeuwarden and the The Water Tower in Gwinnett County.
