We are looking back on a successful Nashville flying consul mission, where we took biometric data for almost 60 passports and eID cards. It was a pleasure to meet many of our Belgians in the wide area and hear the wide variety of life stories and experiences in the region. Thank you for the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce for the warm welcome and especially to Lori Odom for all your help – we are looking forward to increased collaboration on future projects in the region! On Friday night we were thrilled to meet even more of our local citizens over some excellent Belgian-style beer at Fait la Force Brewing Company, named after our nation’s motto. Plans were hatched for more regular meetups of the BE community in the region - keep us posted! We look forward to coming back to Tennessee. Dear fellow Belgian citizens and friends of Belgium in the USA, 🛬 Having landed a couple of days ago for the first time in the USA, it is with great honor and privilege that I take on my position as Consul General of Belgium in the Southeast, based in Atlanta. During my mission I look forward continuing to improve and strengthen the numerous ties that already link our two countries and people together and set up new ones. In this regard, I will explore different ways of doing so, be it by representing the Belgian expertise of our companies seeing the growing and booming potential in the southeast, be it by adding some Belgian sounds and colors to the rich cultural southeastern scene, be it by sharing and defending my country’s values... On top of that, I will strive, together with my excellent team, to continue to provide the best consular services to our Belgian community in the region and guide American citizens, students and investors to discover what Belgium has to offer. I’m confident all this is possible based on my first impressions since my arrival on August 1st, that have been nothing but positive. I’m mainly overwhelmed by the warm welcome I received (in Fahrenheit 🌡️🥵) and by the typical southern charm and kindness. Impressed also by the lush green surroundings in Atlanta that stand in stark contrast with the brown, sun-burned tinted scenery of my previous posting in Morocco, and nothing to compare it neither with the cities of Budapest (Hungary) or Sofia (Bulgaria). 🌳 With a jurisdiction covering no less than 10 states in the Southeast combined with my passion as an avid traveler, I hope to see many more different sceneries, to discover each of the 10 states and be given the opportunity to meet and greet many of you in person. Feel free to share on our socials any good tip for places to visit or for interesting and inspiring people to meet. By the way I already met one of the most important one’s, Uga 🐾🏈.
