COP29 Presidency was honoured to attend the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit in Tanzania, a landmark gathering for governments, private sector leaders and development partners to advance the ambitious goal of providing electricity access to 300 million in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030. The commitments made at COP29 play a pivotal role in achieving the Mission 300 goal by 2030. The forum continued with a fireside chat titled "UN High-Level Champions – Driving Action, Collaboration, and Engagement," featuring Nigar Arpadarai, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan. The session highlighted the role of UN High-Level Champions in connecting private sector initiatives with national action plans to advance Paris Agreement goals and accelerate progress toward net-zero. Discussions covered mobilizing expertise and financing, key collaborations in the MENA region, and also outlined the road to COP30 in Brazil, emphasizing climate justice and equitable transitions.

At the Energy Africa Summit, COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev met with Hussain AlNowais, Chairman of AMEA Power. Over the past two weeks, COP29 Lead Negotiator, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev participate in a number of engagements in Ethiopia, Rwanda and Qatar.
