NEJM Knowledge+ Pain Management and Opioids Medical professionals need to stay on top of a constantly growing and evolving body of medical knowledge to provide the best patient care. Our nation's opioid epidemic makes the job even harder, requiring you to meet the needs of your patients while complying with requirements from regulatory and oversight organizations. NEJM Knowledge+ Pain Management and Opioids addresses these needs and is the most efficient way to review the current, evidence-based clinical knowledge on opioid analgesics. And now, the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act requires physicians, including residents and fellows, and other health care professionals who prescribe controlled substances, to complete at least eight hours of training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, to obtain or renew their DEA license. This free NEJM Knowledge+ course meets the new one-time, eight-hour training requirement for all Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)-registered practitioners and may meet the medical students' future needs. International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD), observed annually on August 31st, is a campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind. Through the 2024 theme of “Together we can,” IOAD organizers are highlighting the strength of coming together and standing in support of those connected to the tragedy of overdose. Our collective voices are stronger, louder, and the most impactful when brought together. Let’s remember: Together, we can end overdose.
