With the Watkins Glen International NASCAR race coming up, I want to share something I've been working on. The Corning Museum of Glass is a proud partner of Watkins Glen International, and creates the glass trophy for its NASCAR race each August. Earlier this year we filmed the glassmaking process and produced a short video highlighting all the hard work and dedication our Hot Glass Team puts into this initiative. The video will be shown at the race in September, but in the meantime it will be on our socials for everyone to see. I am excited to share that video with you. While many locals remember Amo Houghton as a Corning Glass Works executive and U.S. Congressman, not as many people know he had a lifelong passion for music or that he was good friends with Congressman John Lewis. In today's blog, join Project Archivist Sarah Alender as she dives into the Houghton archive to reveal some more little-known facts. https://lnkd.in/erYbgQUs

I was recently invited for an event as a guest artist at the world famous Corning Museum of Glass. It was an utterly surreal experience and one of the best days of my life. I loved meeting everyone that came to support me on a random Tuesday! I couldn't be more grateful for everyone who made the trip (so many had driven for 7 hours+) and also for selling out my collection! I don't think I'll ever get used to being asked for photos or things to be signed! I hope my nerves didn't show too much on the live demo, that's definitely something for me to work on. Due to the success of the event I'm currently working on some very big exciting plans!

Next Monday's near-total solar eclipse is an experience not to be missed! In fact, it will be hard to miss as the skies above us darken. Something else not to be missed are these celestial-like objects in our collection. So, if you want to keep the celebration going, visit our galleries and look for these artworks that remind us of the sun, the moon, and the thing that brings them together—the eclipse! https://bit.ly/4afCln3
