The 2025 CIC and Interfaith America seminar will examine how interfaith understanding can be taught effectively in the classroom so that students are equipped for interfaith engagement and leadership both on campus and beyond. CIC offers conferences, seminars, publications, and other programs and services that help institutions improve educational quality, administrative and financial performance, student outcomes, and institutional visibility. Founded in 1956, CIC conducts the largest annual conferences of college and university presidents and of chief academic officers in the United States.

In an era of political polarization, higher education leaders everywhere have fortified civil dialogue initiatives on campus ahead of another hotly debated event: the U.S. presidential election. Three CIC member institutions, Elon University, Baylor University, and Bucknell University, were featured in an article by University Business to speak about their civic education programs and student engagement efforts on campus. The Roadmap is particularly relevant to CIC’s membership of independent colleges and universities, as most of its authors on the Academic Leaders Task Force on Campus Free Expression have led and serve at CIC member institutions. Internships and work-based learning opportunities help students prepare for the workforce, but these experiences can be exclusionary. CIC’s Work-Based Learning Consortium integrates valuable experiences into the curriculum and creates more equitable internship and work-based learning opportunities for students. CIC’s annual Workshops for Department and Division Chairs cater to incoming, new, and experienced chairs of departments or divisions. The focus of these workshops is cultivating effective leadership skills and fostering an institution-wide vision within the context of uncertainty and change. The program aims to assist chairs in developing a comprehensive institutional perspective while enhancing crucial skills such as clear and concise communication, strategic thinking, cross-institutional collaboration, and future planning.
