CTBUH UK Future Leaders Committee Update - We are pleased to announce that we have recently welcomed Alex Black-Roberts back to the UK FLC board, joining the rest of the committee members announced earlier this year. Alex is an Associate Director, Building Structures at WSP and was previously a member of the UK FLC board before stepping down after making an exciting decision to move abroad and work in New Zealand for a year. Alex is now back in London and ready to reengage! Welcome, Alex!

On 18 March, the CTBUH France Chapter gathered at the iconic Centre Pompidou for its 5th Annual General Meeting, bringing together members and partners to explore the future of vertical urbanism. Attendees Dienstag Ariane, Amaury Leroy, Marie-Noëlle Maraval, Lucien Wedzikowski, Aude Laurent, Nayla Mecattaf, Nathalie Rozencwajg, Ray Spano, Joana Lazarova, Sylvain GERY, Hamish Crockett, John Hanlon, Philippe Honnorat, Maryse Belot, Mireille Ataya Roque, Christophe Bilaine, Guillaume Crouzet, Alexandra Podvin, MRICS, were treated to a special tour of the Centre before hearing a presentation on its renovation, led by Moreau Kusunoki. Their design approach carefully balances modern innovation with a deep respect for Parisian heritage, ensuring the building’s legacy endures for generations to come. A huge thank you to Centre Pompidou for hosting this inspiring occasion. We recently held our annual Tall Building Trivia event – a truly fun and challenging competition which took place at Fado’s and featured 18 teams representing many of Chicago’s leading architectural, engineering, and consulting firms. Our competitors faced six rounds of questions testing their knowledge of towers, the urban environment, as well as a little pop-culture. In the end, the winning team was SR+A Structural Engineers followed by a tie for 2nd place with ArcelorMittal and Thornton Tomasetti. Lastly, a huge thanks go out to all who participated as well as our sponsors for the evening who included: ArcelorMittal, DeSimone Consulting Engineering, Gensler, McHugh Construction, McHugh Concrete Construction, Inc., RATIO Design, Walter P Moore, Epstein Architecture, Engineering and Construction, ParkFowler Plus, Thornton Tomasetti, Buro Happold, Jahn/, NORR, Master of Science in Executive Management for Design and Construction at Northwestern University.
