We were so proud to work with such an inspiring servant leader, and we send our heartfelt condolences to Dikembe Mutombo's family and all who were impacted by his generosity of spirit.

We lost a GIANT of a man yesterday! And I am not talking about his physical size, although he made everyone look small when standing next to them. More prominent than his height was his heart! We had the privilege of working with Dikembe Mutombo on a project to build a school in his birth country, the Democratic Republic of Congo. His generosity was inspiring. He was the definition of a servant leader as he gave his time, talent, and treasure willingly and with such a joyful heart. Thank you to Lovette Russell for introducing me to Dikembe and taking this photo in your office!

Building housing, building hope: Last week, City of Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens proposed $60 million in public funding to address homelessness. Dickens will ask the City Council to authorize the public funding through a $50 million homeless opportunity bond and $10 million from Atlanta’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund. The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta has also committed $10 million in philanthropic dollars to the effort. And we’re proud to work with our client Partners for HOME, the City's implementation partner for homelessness, who will raise even more funds and work with partners to make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring through housing and wraparound support services. Big things are happening for The Woodruff Arts Center’s littlest patrons! Members of the Coxe Curry team were thrilled to attend the groundbreaking for the Experience Atlanta, Experience Woodruff campaign, which will create two exciting new spaces for children: the Goizueta Stage for Youth & Families in the reimagined Rich Theatre and a free experiential learning center, PNC PlaySpace, where children can play, imagine, and create. The campaign will also support a new community greenspace, campus-wide signage, infrastructure upgrades, and expanded access to educational programming for young learners. “We’re so grateful to our donors who are making this work possible,” said Hala Moddelmog, President and CEO of the Woodruff Arts Center. “Because of their generosity, we’re able to foster a more inclusive and accessible community space that invites patrons from all walks of life to spend more time with us and experience the arts in new and personal ways.” (Photo by CatMax Photography, courtesy of The Woodruff Arts Center)

Dr. Davis was an exceptional leader whose career was defined by stewardship—of the magnificent creatures in his care, of the staff under his leadership, of the broader Atlanta community, and of the millions of guests who visit the Aquarium from all corners of the globe. The team at Coxe Curry sends our heartfelt condolences to the Davis family. We cherished our relationship with Dr. Davis, and we are committed to supporting the Georgia Aquarium team as they continue to live out his legacy.

It is with immense sadness we announce the passing of our leader, friend, and mentor, president and CEO, Dr. Brian Davis. Brian was an exceptionally talented and intelligent individual who left a tremendous imprint on the education and zoological fields. Furthermore, he was a beautifully compassionate human being who lifted others up and dedicated himself to creating a caring and diverse space at the Aquarium. He was a dynamic thinker and always pushed the boundaries of what we could achieve, making Georgia Aquarium an extraordinary place. He was one of the first employees at the Aquarium prior to opening in 2005 and led us through years of innovation and growth. Brian’s indelible imprint made all those he knew better – we are better because of Brian. As we navigate this heartbreaking news, our priority lies with caring for staff. We may have limited operations over the coming days to allow our staff time to grieve. “We are heartbroken by this news. Brian was a giant in leadership with his intellect, wisdom, and imagination,” said Steve Koonin, Chairman of the board of Georgia Aquarium. Our thoughts are with Brian’s family and all those that he touched throughout his life.
