Cradle to Commerce’s Cohort 2 Is Here! We’re excited to introduce the nine incredible teams selected for Cohort 2 of the C2C program! These visionary scientists and entrepreneurs have proven their potential in the C2C Legion phase, and we’re thrilled to congratulate them on reaching this major milestone. Throughout the cohort phase, these teams will push the boundaries of hard tech development across cutting-edge test beds at Argonne National Laboratory, Berkeley Lab, Idaho National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and The Engine Accelerator. 🔙 Reflecting on a Powerful Discussion: Buildings Panel at C2C Summit 2024 🏢 Buildings are a major player in our energy landscape, consuming 74% of the U.S.’s electricity, 39% of total energy, and contributing 35% of carbon emissions (NIST, 2021). Achieving net-zero emissions requires our buildings to be more flexible, resilient, and smarter. In our recent panel, Tianhzen Hong, Computational Senior Scientist/Engineer at Berkeley Lab, led a compelling discussion on the five key trends driving zero-carbon building innovations: decarbonization, resilience, electrification, efficiency, and digitalization. We were fortunate to hear from Glen Junor, Program Manager at Sublime Systems, Yi Jean Chow, Investment Principal at Clean Energy Ventures, and Nicholas Ryan, Tech-to-Market Lead at the U.S. U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Building Technologies Office. Cradle to Commerce (C2C) is a public-private program, funded by the DOE Office of Technology Transitions, which aims to accelerate the commercialization of groundbreaking climate technologies. Calectra's co-founders, Nate Weger and Pauliina Meskanen, met thanks to C2C at its inaugural program last year. They were later selected to the C2C Cohort 2023, received a $50k grant from the DOE, access to Berkeley Lab's world-class lab resources, and mentoring from The Engine.
