October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! #NDEAM After a spinal cord injury in 2018, #CraigGrad Ayesha, now a lead teacher for an elementary school morning program, worked hard to find fulfilling employment that aligned with her goals. Supported by Craig Community Reintegration Specialist Hayley Medina, Ayesha participated in job coaching, career planning and accessing resources to regain independence and make a meaningful impact every day. Her advice this #NDEAM? Find work that fulfills you, seek support when needed and know that your contributions matter. “Take it slow. Every day is a learning process. Go into your work and stay in student mode, move slowly and continue to learn." Read more about Ayesha's story here: https://lnkd.in/gWTnWMGP

A simple hike in the Colorado mountains turned Mark’s world upside down. After days in the ICU, he was diagnosed with West Nile Virus, which attacked his nervous system and left him paralyzed from the waist up. With the help of Craig’s therapists, Mark pushed through intense physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapy—working on everything from adaptive biking to golf putting. Last weekend, Mark took on Pedal 4 Possible at the Raceway, Craig Hospital’s annual biking fundraiser! Reflecting on his journey, he shared, “Thinking back to where I was last year—no thanks to a mosquito—brings up powerful emotions. But I am so happy to be outside doing the activities that I enjoy. I feel extremely grateful for how far I’ve come.” Follow Mark's story going from a bed at Craig to biking in our annual Pedal 4 Possible event: https://lnkd.in/gk7_7E5G
