🦷💉 Bridging medicine and dentistry to protect kids from cancer! A new study published in Pediatrics, of the American Academy of Pediatrics, highlights a simple but powerful idea: dentists can help increase HPV vaccination rates during routine visits. 🏥 Denver Health's Medical-Dental Integration Program is proving that collaboration between dental and medical providers can close critical gaps in preventive care. Led by Jessica Jack MD, and Scott Hamilton, DDS, the study found: ✅ Kids seen at dental clinics were 4x more likely to get vaccinated ✅ 8.6% increase in HPV vaccinations ✅ More than 77% of participating children were on Medicaid HPV-related cancers are preventable, and children visit the dentist more often than their primary care provider. By offering vaccinations in a trusted setting, we can expand access, reduce disparities, and save lives. 📖 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gM_hYuhc #MedicalDentalIntegration #HPVVaccine #CancerPrevention #ResearchMatters

  • 👷♂️ A big thank you to our amazing "Winter Warriors" from the Engineering team, who have been working non-stop to clear Denver Health’s main campus and community health centers! 💪 Braving the cold, they were back at it tackling the snow starting yesterday evening, when an overnight storm dumped more than 6 inches in Denver. It is because of their tireless efforts that we can ensure services for our patients and community go uninterrupted. ❄️ Extra snow? Bring it on! • 🩺 We are celebrating School-Based Health Care Awareness Month with a tribute to the incredible influence of our School-based Health Centers (SBHCs) in shaping student futures! Zurizaday Andrade, an 18-year-old trainee, found her calling thanks to the caring environment and valuable connection she experienced at Abraham Lincoln High School (Denver, CO) SBHC. Today, she works part time and rotates among our SBHC centers, shadowing medical assistants (MAs), learning to check in patients, taking vitals and assisting with administrative tasks. Learning to contribute to the health care field, she hopes to build bonds with students just like her MA did for her! Read the full story in our Journeys newsletter at den.health/Zurizaday . 🙌 Let’s hear it for our SBHCs, serving over 15,000 students each school year, and impacting lives every day - providing care, shaping futures and inspiring dreams! #SBCHAwarenessMonth #SchoolBasedHealth #SBHC #HealthEquity #YouthAdvocacy #GivingBack #DHCareers #DHJourneys

  • 🌎 The second annual Denver Health Orthoplastic Conference convened last weekend, serving as a platform for experts in orthopedic and plastic surgery from both the U.S. and Europe. The focus of the conference was on expanding education about limb salvage, soft-tissue reconstruction and treatments for peripheral nerve injury. 👨⚕️ Kyros Ipaktchi, Chair of Hand and Microvascular Surgery at Denver Health, stated, “This conference is at the core of what we do. A lot of other hospitals do orthopedic trauma or soft tissue coverage, but the combination within one department is very important – that’s what we offer at Denver Health.” Dr. Ipaktchi organized the conference along with Andrew Maertens, an orthopedic hand and microvascular surgery physician. Both emphasized the value of their entire team's role in executing the event. The conference was hosted at our Rita Bass Trauma and EMS Institute. It offered hands-on experience through cadaveric dissections, surgical demonstrations with a focus on flap-based coverage, nerve treatment techniques and ultrasound-assisted carpal tunnel release. 🏥 Denver Health stands as the sole Level 1 trauma center in Colorado with 24/7 microvascular services. According to Dr. Ipaktchi, the health center is initiating a new orthoplastic fellowship - the second in its kind in the U.S. This step furthers the commitment of Denver Health towards pioneering the future of reconstructive surgery. • 💙 Our “Cozy Cart” brought extra warmth and love to our patients this Valentine's Day! A heartwarming thank you goes out to the Denver community for embracing the spirit of love and generously donating so many beautiful handmade blankets and hats! With the cold storm we've had this past week, we came up with the perfect way to celebrate the day - by sharing more warmth! Our kindhearted volunteer took one look at our holiday-ready cart and couldn't resist adding her artistic touch. With a colorful array of hearts, she decorated the cart to spread the love even further. 💝 Patients, visitors and staff were also treated to a holiday-themed menu and snacks table at our Good Day Café. This Valentine's Day, the secret ingredient was kindness! #HappyValentinesDay #DHVolunteers #ThankYou #SpreadTheLove 💞

  • 💙 Giving back to the community is always a rewarding experience, and employees from the Poison Center within Rocky Mountain Poison & Drug Safety (RMPDS) recently had the chance to do just that! Volunteering at the Denver Rescue Mission, the team served lunch to approximately 250 people experiencing homelessness, providing a warm meal and a sense of support to those in need. The day was filled with teamwork, compassion and plenty of smiles as the RMPDS group made a meaningful impact on the lives of others. 👩🍳 Dressed in hairnets and aprons, the team prepared and distributed meals, creating a welcoming and caring environment for everyone who came through. It was a powerful reminder of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference!
