Imagine the impact of a kind smile, a friendly hello, and a nutritious breakfast on a young mind as they embark on a new day of learning and growth. The Champions for Our Youth stopped by School District of Lancaster's McCaskey High School with their warmth and generosity, providing not just breakfast but a hearty welcome to kickstart the students' day. They are a phenomenal group of local community leaders and residents who have dedicated themselves to making a difference in the lives of our youth. Their mission is simple but profound: to show up for students, extend a warm welcome, and be a positive presence in the community. As the sun rose, so did the spirits of every student fortunate enough to be greeted by these incredible champions. The halls echoed with laughter, the aroma of breakfast filled the air, and a sense of belonging radiated throughout the school. It's moments like these that remind us of the profound impact a caring community can have on shaping the future. To the students of JP McCaskey High School, may this be a day that resonates with warmth and inspiration as you navigate the path ahead. Shoutout to Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster, Crispus Attucks Community Center, Community Action Partnership of Lancaster County and everyone who came out to support! #SDoLPA #SDoLProud #community #communityaction #strongertogether #lancasterpa

While most people waited to take the turkey out of the oven Thursday morning, dozens of people were already gathered around tables at Crispus Attucks Community Center for a new Thanksgiving tradition. The community center, located on Howard Avenue in southeast Lancaster city, hosted a free Thanksgiving breakfast for the first time. The idea for a different take on the community Thanksgiving meal came from Patricia Soto, owner of the Ph’usion Mobile Cuisine food truck. Instead of turkey, the Lancaster city resident served loaded pancakes, eggs, bacon, home fries and grits. She got help from volunteers including School District of Lancaster's McCaskey High School football players and coaches. #CACCLanc #holidayseason #Thanksgiving #community #communityaction #strongertogether #lancasterpa

Food has a magical way of bringing us together, transcending distances and creating bonds that go beyond words. It's the cornerstone of this special holiday, weaving tales of love and connection. This Thanksgiving, the spirit of togetherness and community has truly warmed our hearts. The Crispus Attucks Community Center had the immense pleasure of partnering with Representative Smith-Wade-El and his team to make this holiday season a little brighter for our community. Thanks to their generosity, we were able to distribute turkeys, chickens, hams, and all the fixings that make a Thanksgiving meal truly special. It warms our hearts to know that every family in our community, from near and far, can gather around a table filled with love, laughter, and the delicious aromas of a festive feast. As we reflect on this season of gratitude, let's remember the warmth that emanates from a shared table, the joy found in giving, and the love that knows no boundaries. Our deepest thanks to Rep Izzy and his dedicated team for their unwavering support and commitment to making a difference. #CACCLanc #CAPLanc #CommunityAction #Community #Thanksgiving #LancasterPA

Activating the Promise of Democracy speaks to Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech, in which he declared “Now is the time to make real the promise of democracy.” In a country that often cites democracy as its most important founding principle, and with 2024 being a presidential election year, engagement of all people in community, civics, and voting can make a true difference both for today and for generations to come. This event will ignite a full year of conversations to ensure Lancaster Countians work together to activate the promise of democracy that Dr. King championed. Democracy is a core tenant upon which the United States was founded. And despite a founding document that declares that all men are created equal, the reality in our nation – from its founding to present day – is that inequality is rampant and shows up in every institution and system we encounter. The annual Crispus Attucks Community Center MLK Breakfast is a time for the community to come together, to foster relationships, to dialogue around the life and legacy of Dr. King, and to confront issues of inequity and injustice. This event, the Center’s largest fundraiser, annually raises $100,000 in critical funds for the Center, nearly 1/3 of the its yearly budget. On Monday, Jan. 15, to celebrate the 36th annual MLK Breakfast, we will welcome Bakari Sellers to Lancaster for “Activating the Promise of Democracy.” #CACCLanc #MLKDay #community #communityaction #strongertogether #fundraiser
