This past weekend, Debbie Gonot, Mark Duffy, Fr. Dave Caron, OP, Jorge Morales-Nazario, Fr. F, and Sue Keusch joined the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church community. Through their dedication and teamwork, they surpassed their ambitious goal — packing over 80,000 meals to feed the hungry! Last year, through our food packing events and financial support from Catholics around the U.S., 25.9 million Vitafood meals were shipped to hungry kids and families. Last month, we introduced you to Sylvia and her family. Now, we’re excited to share more from our visit, where we saw Sylvia and her sister receive their first Box of Joy gifts — unpacking treasures, cuddling stuffed animals and simply being kids. Play and imagination are important to a child’s well-being, and we saw just how impactful it can be firsthand. While Box of Joy doesn’t replace the essential food and aid these families need, it brings an incredible amount of hope and joy to the kids who receive them — and their communities. This is why we do what we do. https://lnkd.in/g7HHvkqT #CatholicChurch #HumanitarianRelief #NonprofitImpact

"It is a call to take action, to mobilize all our resources in combating trafficking and restoring full dignity to those who have been its victims. If we close our eyes and ears, if we do nothing, we will be guilty of complicity." – Pope Francis Though we protect her identity, we know Jenna’s* story — a journey of courage, resilience and hope. After being removed from her home by child protective services, Jenna found safety and healing at our ministry partner’s shelter. Today, she is in her second year of pursuing a Bachelor of Science in social work, with dreams of helping other children overcome the challenges she has faced. Women and girls in poverty face serious challenges. Cross Catholic Outreach partners with ministries to support and empower them. Millions of people in America’s southern states are reeling from two deadly hurricanes. Many have lost their homes, possessions and livelihoods. These families face immediate urgent needs and will continue to face hardships in the months ahead. Your support will enable us to send cash grants and/or supplies such as food, water, diapers and medicine to trusted Catholic partners in places heavily impacted by these hurricanes, including the Diocese of Charlotte, the Diocese of Savannah, and dioceses in Florida. We are in direct contact with local Catholic leaders to support their efforts to uplift families in crisis. On this special day, we honor Our Blessed Mother Mary, who gifted us the powerful prayer of the Rosary. As we turn to her today, let us especially pray for all those in the path of hurricanes and storms, entrusting them to her maternal protection. Mary is always with us, leading us closer to her Son, Jesus.

"As I write this today, I am carrying with me a renewed perspective on Matthew 25:40. Going on that mission trip, I thought I would be benefiting “one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine,” but in reality, I was the “least of them.” My experience in the Dominican Republic showed me that going on a trip of this kind can often teach the most valuable of lessons — true happiness doesn’t reside in the material; it is found in the spiritual." The Diocese Of Palm Beach, which extends up Florida’s Atlantic Coast from the Archdiocese of Miami, is home to the Cathedral of Saint Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens, the seat of Bishop Gerald Barbarito. Four years ago, Bishop Barbarito appointed Father Gavin Badway to become the rector of the cathedral. Fr. Badway was quick to see the needs of the aging cathedral, and his priority was to take care of the physical campus. In addition to the good he has done for the cathedral itself, Fr. Badway has worked equally hard for the people in his flock. Continue reading: https://lnkd.in/gUyeaj5d
