Students from Crossroads' Learning Center took an exclusive tour of the Providence Public Library last week, exploring the wide range of free resources available to support their educational journeys. As part of the visit, the class participated in a digital scavenger hunt to kick off the new term's 'Pioneers and Exploration' theme, with support from our President & CEO, Michelle Wilcox, who added excitement by awarding prizes to the winners! October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to recognize the strength and resilience of survivors and raise awareness about the ongoing need for support and resources. At Crossroads Rhode Island, we are committed to providing a safe space for individuals and families escaping domestic violence. We recently launched a new Transitional Housing Program with 7 units, offering safe housing and comprehensive services—including clinical support, case management, and employment resources—thanks to a $1.2M grant. This program helps survivors move from emergency shelters to permanent, stable housing. Earlier this week, we held our annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors event, presented by TRAC Builders, at Farm Fresh Rhode Island in Providence. We’d like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us and made the event a success! As Workforce Development Month comes to a close, we're honored to celebrate one of our longstanding corporate partners, Citizens! Last week week, we unveiled our new Citizens Employment Resource Center sign and thanked them for their generous support of our Education & Employment Services Programs. Their continued support enables us to deliver vital workforce development and financial education to hundreds of Rhode Islanders, empowering them to achieve financial independence and sustainable careers. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming friends and supporters for a morning of coffee and conversation with our newly appointed President & CEO, Michelle Wilcox. Held at our headquarters in Providence, Michelle led a thoughtful discussion and answered questions about Crossroads' ongoing efforts to develop new housing, expand programming, and address the homelessness crisis here in Rhode Island. For the second year in a row, Enviro Clean Restore graciously chose Crossroads as the beneficiary of their annual BBQ Bash raffle! Their amazing team and clients came together last week to purchase raffle tickets at the event, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to support our mission. We recently hosted our Annual Family Picnic at our Kingstown Crossings apartments where families came together to enjoy classic summer eats, fun games, and a slip-and-slide on a hot summer day. 🎉 A big thank you to the North Kingstown Police Department for sharing their Antibullying Campaign with the kids, and to Tri-County Community Action Agency and the North Kingstown School Department for providing valuable resources to the families we serve at Kingstown Crossings. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success! 🌟

Last week, Crossroads welcomed back Jennifer Schanck-Bolwell as our new Chief Operating Officer! Jennifer previously spent 16 years with us from 2004-2020, making a significant impact across multiple roles, including Head of Housing Assets, where she managed 370+ housing units. "Jennifer’s extensive experience and leadership make her uniquely positioned to have an immediate impact on our mission," shared Crossroads President & CEO, Michelle Wilcox. Welcome back! 🎉
