Updates

  • The Spur Education Team often spends mornings on the South Platte River gathering macroinvertebrates for students of all ages to explore in Hydro under the microscope. A big component is educating people about the diverse ecosystem that lives beneath the water, but another is to foster a love and appreciation for our city’s crucial waterway. From our Water Education Coordinator, Stefan: “I love this quote from a naturalist named Baba Dioum: ‘In the end we will conserve only what we love. WE will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.’ My dream is to have more passion, care, and investment from Denver residents around the South Platte and have it become more central to our culture in Denver and beyond. Especially in the GES neighborhoods.”

  • Food lovers and fashionistas got together in a big way last weekend for this year’s Offal Party — an annual celebration of sustainability that turns often-overlooked animal parts into culinary and couture gold instead of leftovers bound for the landfill. This year’s event served up more than just adventurous eats — it also featured a stunning fashion show, where students from the CSU Department of Design and Merchandising designed, crafted, and strutted their own leather garments.

It’s hard to believe it’s already over — but we already have our eyes on 2026 when everything moves into the brand new @national.western.center 🎉 A quick heads up! CSU Spur will be closed tomorrow and Tuesday to give our team some much needed rest. We will be back in action on Wednesday, January 29th. We’ll see you then!
