Each quarter the Review features an individual who has made significant contributions to international social work education with ties to the United States. This quarter, we’re recognizing María Cerda, the founding executive director of the Latino Institute and the first Latina appointed to the Chicago Board of Education. The International Association for Schools of Social Work (IASSW) invites nominations for the 2026 Eileen Younghusband Lecture to be held at the Global Social Work Conference in Nairobi, Kenya in June of 2026. The speaker should be a distinguished social work educator with an international reputation and recognition. Please submit a letter of nomination describing the impact of the nominee’s work on social work education at the international level and how this was achieved as well as biographical information or CV by October 30, 2024, to Dr. Halaevalu Vakalahi, chair of the committee,at hvakalahi@cswe.org and copied to IASSW secretary Janestic Twikirize at janestic@iassw-aiets.org.

DEADLINE EXTENDED!! The Substance Use Disorders Education and Leadership Scholars (SUDEALS) Program application is closing soon. Ten social work programs can form a cohort of social workers specializing in substance use disorders. Each participating program will receive the following: 1. Project Directors will receive a $2,000 stipend each year toward professional development. 2. Students will receive a $2,000 student each year and travel support to CSWE’s fellows’ forum in Washington, DC. 3. CSWE members are invited to submit nominations for the Prestigious Katherine A. Kendall Memorial Award which highlights the distinguished contribution to the development of social work education internationally. The nominee can come from any region of the world and may or may not be a member of IASSW. Nominees must submit a letter of nomination, the names and addresses of two references and their CV. Nominations should be submitted by Monday, September 30th to the chair of the Committee Dr. Halaevalu Vakalahi at hvakalahi@cswe.org and copied to IASSW secretary at Janestic Twikirize janestic@iassw-aiets.org.
