Changing the world through the workplace, together.

It’s been a while since I last shared an update from On Culture. I’ll try to do better. If you’d like to receive these directly, you can always subscribe to our main account here: https://lnkd.in/gayRFUD6. This week, I reflect on the impact of political divides, both personal and professional. Like many, I have family with very different views. While I may not share their beliefs, I’ve come to value the importance of building bridges rather than barriers. This message feels especially urgent as we navigate the post-election climate and strive for connection, even amid disagreement. In the workplace, election-related stress doesn’t just stop at the door—it affects morale, engagement, and teamwork. Leaders can help by fostering spaces where people feel heard, supported, and valued, regardless of their affiliation. In these times, leadership isn’t about directing; it’s about listening, adapting, and facilitating genuine connections that keep us moving forward together. Our Culturati community believes in empowering teams to meet today’s unique challenges head-on. By involving HR early in strategic decisions and leaning into inclusive approaches, we’re creating workplaces that not only endure but thrive. Here’s to embracing the challenges and rising together. To building bridges. #CultureMatters #LeadershipInAction #BuildingBridges

As highlighted in a recent Fortune article (featured in this week's #OnCulture), we've shifted from a VUCA world—Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous—to a BANI world—Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, Incomprehensible. This transition underscores today's accelerated change, unpredictable interconnectedness, and heightened emotional impacts. 🔑 Succeeding in the BANI World: Fortune's Five-Part Framework 1️⃣ Redefine the Board -- Embrace True Diversity: Incorporate diverse experiences and thinking styles for richer perspectives. -- Commit to Continuous Learning: Implement term limits and regular evaluations to stay ahead of rapid changes. 2️⃣ The New CEO -- Adaptive Leadership: Navigate constant change with agility and resilience. -- Technological Fluency: Deeply understand and strategically leverage tech trends to drive innovation. 3️⃣ Reimagine the C-Suite -- Foster Collaboration: Break down silos to encourage cross-functional teamwork and idea sharing. -- Encourage Rapid Innovation: Cultivate a culture of experimentation and iterative learning. 4️⃣ Integrate AI Strategically -- Beyond Efficiency: Use AI to enhance customer loyalty and explore new business opportunities. -- Data-Driven Insights: Leverage AI and analytics for real-time, informed decision-making. 5️⃣ Measure Success Differently -- Long-Term Focus: Prioritize sustainable growth over short-term gains by focusing on 3-5 year Total Shareholder Return (TSR). -- Stakeholder Impact: Measure success across all stakeholders, not just shareholders, adopting flexible KPIs that evolve with circumstances. In a world that may feel brittle and incomprehensible, adaptability and innovation are our greatest allies. By embracing change and rethinking leadership, we can turn challenges into opportunities. Let's build resilience together and thrive in the BANI world. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gFSVAqif

From the support of our families and friends to the opportunities for growth and learning, there is so much to be thankful for. Let's cherish the simple pleasures—the beauty of our communities, the kindness of neighbors, and the shared experiences that enrich our lives. Today also offers us the privilege to exercise our right to vote, a significant aspect of our democracy that allows us to shape the future of our community and country. Regardless of our individual choices, we can all be grateful for the democratic process that empowers us. Let's come together in appreciation for our rights, our relationships, and the shared hopes that unite us. Wishing everyone a month filled with gratitude, unity, and positive connections. Happy National Gratitude Month, and don't forget to exercise your right to vote!

In our latest Culturati: Live session, Dr. Anthony D. Baker explores Thomas Aquinas's Three Levels of Prudence: 1. False / Decoy Prudence Occurs when technical skill is applied without ethical consideration. For example, a skilled thief may excel in the art of theft but operates unethically, prioritizing personal gain over the common good. This level reminds us that proficiency without morality can lead to harmful outcomes. 2. Imperfect / Partial Prudence When good intentions and skills are limited by a narrow focus, lacking a broader vision. Consider the shipbuilder who constructs excellent ships but doesn't contemplate their ultimate use or impact on society. Without considering the wider implications, even our best efforts may fall short of true excellence. 3. True Prudence Represents the highest level of leadership, where actions are aligned with universal good and a commitment to human flourishing. This is exemplified by a leader who integrates skill and ethics to make decisions that benefit both the organization and the broader community. At this level, leadership transcends mere success to foster genuine well-being for all. For a deeper exploration of how this framework applies to contemporary challenges—like AI adoption and ethical decision-making—access the full session on Culturati On Demand 🎥 https://lnkd.in/gAjursib #ExecutiveLeadership #PrudentLeadership #CulturatiLive #EthicalLeadersh

Why isn’t your organization seeing the productivity gains from AI that individuals are experiencing? Despite widespread AI adoption—recent studies show that over 30% of American employees have used tools like ChatGPT in just the past week—many organizations are missing out on these productivity boosts. Why? According to AI expert Ethan Mollick, Professor at Wharton School, the issue lies in how organizations handle AI. AI-driven individual productivity doesn’t automatically translate to organizational success. To unlock AI’s full potential, companies are encouraged to address fear, incentivize transparency, and invest in R&D. Here's how you can bridge this gap: 1. Reduce Fear and Encourage Experimentation Establish clear, supportive AI policies. Assure employees that using AI won't threaten their job security. Create a safe space for innovation without punitive measures. 2. Incentivize Transparency Reward employees who share their AI productivity hacks. Offer meaningful incentives like bonuses, promotions, or added perks. Make innovation a win-win for both the individual and the organization. 3. Lead by Example and Build a Community Executives can actively use AI and share their experiences. Encourage managers to prompt their teams to explore AI solutions first. Foster collaboration through workshops, hackathons, and knowledge-sharing sessions. For more insights, read Ethan Mollick’s latest article: https://lnkd.in/gavV3bU4 #AIinBusiness #Innovation #Leadership #FutureOfWork #AIIntegration
