Last week at Cure. we were thrilled to sponsor and host the #BioGENEius Challenge, a science competition showcasing the finest young talent in biotechnology from across the United States. After five finalists, who were state-level winners, presented their work to a committee of judges, high school student @Yifan Ding from Boston Latin School in Boston, MA, emerged as the grand prize winner. His groundbreaking research on "Engineering of a Compact Gene Switch for Temporal Control of CRISPR Gene Editing" impressed judges with its innovation and commercial potential. Four other BioGENEius finalist winners, Anagha Iyer from Florida; Sanan Khairabadi from Georgia; Porter Mikesel from Maine; and Dean Wang from Minnesota, also received prizes. Thanks Quinta Jackson for the decades long collaboration on this important project and thanks to my co-panel of judges Jeremy Abbate of Scientific American; Walter Greenleaf, PhD from Stanford University; Patrik Frei, CEO, Venture Valuation AG; Susanna Ling from Cure. and Andrew W. Lam, PharmD from Ally Bridge Group; and Viq Pervaaz, from New York City Economic Development Corporation. Thanks also to Sara Jane Demy for showcasing this at the #BioFuture2024 conference. At Cure, we believe that the next generation holds the key to shaping the future of healthcare and so hosting the #BioGENEius award on the heels of hosting the Life Science Cares New York #ScienceDay and the The New York Academy of Sciences #StemStudentShowcase is a wonderful way to continue to invest in the future of #science, #biotech and #healthcare #innovation.
