We are at the COP tipping point. This COP started strong with many announcements as well as some important wins. However, as we head into the second week and the negotiators get into the details, it is clear that a successful outcome is still facing an uphill battle.    As a community, we now have a pivotal role to play. We must call on the Presidency to demonstrate our support and hold him accountable to his role in navigating these negotiations towards the strongest possible outcome. We must rally behind the headline signals that will ensure the necessary ambitious response to the GST, and send a clear sign that the real economy is united and ready to deliver a transformation, which is already underway.    For this to have an impact, we need your help. At last year’s COP 27 summit, women comprised less than 34% of the negotiating teams. I have long been an advocate for ensuring women have a seat at the table when decisions are being made. Climate change is a generational global problem that disproportionately impacts women and girls. It is imperative that the leaders of COP 28 include women and keep women's issues and voices at the forefront.

With COP28 rapidly approaching, we're excited to share that Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC) is hosting an informal, time-bound (Nov-Dec 2023) mentorship intensive to help grow the impact and power of women's voices in public and the media at COP28. The program aims to pair experienced spokespeople and media experts with people who have less experience or who are re-engaging in a public role. Participants are expected to agree to a minimum commitment of 1 x 30 minute call with their partner ahead of COP28, and to respond to at least 3 messages during COP28 to exchange advice, tips and strategies on media work at COP. As the first woman President of Ireland from 1990 to 1997, Mary Robinson's legacy extends far beyond her term in office. Mary is known for bridging the gap between climate change and human rights communities and for championing a rights-based approach to seeking climate justice. Her passion for establishing grassroots women’s leadership in climate policy is evident in the co-founding of Project Dandelion, a women-led global climate justice campaign.
