I am so incredibly excited to introduce you to this artist. Michael has worked for CW in Connecticut since 2015. He is a food production worker, primarily packaging coffee and gravy for the military. When he is not on the production line, Michael checks all of the product codes to ensure they can be read, earning him the nickname “Eagle Eye.” When Michael was young, he was diagnosed with Autism. In school, he realized how much he enjoyed computers and art. He started drawing, a hobby that his mother, Rosa, was able to support quickly. He started just sketching, then got into watercolor. In 5th grade, Michael’s artwork was showcased in the school's art museum. In 2019, Michael started working with markers, making the art look like watercolors. His focus has always been on drawing animals. He will even draw your pet from a picture! Michael’s art is $20 apiece. If it is being shipped, the total cost is $30 to cover shipping, and it is mailed in a tube ready for you to take out and frame your way! If you are interested in purchasing any of Michael’s artwork or commissioning him to draw your pet, please get in touch with Wendy at communications@cwresources.org, and I will connect you. #Disability #AutismAwareness #DisabilityInclusion #AbilityOne #SourceAmerica

At almost 91 years young, Silvestri shows no sign of slowing down. Silvestri joined the US Coast Guard at 17 and made it a 40-year career. He was the first to be positioned on the Coast Guard Food Service Management Team and was responsible for the cooks' training program at the Coast Guard Academy. Silvestri fought in many battles, working to keep our country safe. Once retired, Silvestri came to work at the Galley. While working, Silvestri was enrolled at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI., and graduated with an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts. Silvestri played a significant part in Cross Hall Galley winning the Navy Ney Award in 2018, the highest award given to a dining facility. Silvestri turns 91 years young on 1/1/2024. Let all of the CW family wish him well and good health as he begins his 22nd year as Lead Supervisor at Cross Hall Galley. Thank you, Silvestri, for your service to our country! A remarkable man indeed!
