Across the EU, coast guards manage a total of 11 functions that range from traffic management and fisheries inspection to environmental protection and border control, ensuring everything that happens at sea is lawful, safe and sustainable. Back in March 2023, the European Fisheries Control Agency - EFCA chartered three Emergency Response Rescue Vessels (ERRVs) from Sentinel Marine Ltd, namely, the Ocean Guardian, Ocean Protector and Ocean Sentinel, to operate in EU and international waters as additional platforms for fisheries inspections. These vessels were fitted out with the latest dynamic positioning technology to strengthen the operational capacity of the EFCA in the monitoring, control and surveillance of fisheries according to the Common Fisheries Policy. They have since been used in patrolling regional waters, from the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea to the Western Waters, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. As the EU is making significant strides in tightening cooperation on coast guard functions to bolster maritime safety and security, Cyan Renewables is proud of Sentinel Marine Ltd's contribution to these efforts through the supply of specialised ERRVs that ensure operational excellence, efficiency and safety on the seas. Cyan Renewables has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Blue Water Shipping to address key logistical challenges that come with the rapid scaling of the offshore wind sector in the Asia Pacific region. To cap off this busy and fruitful month, Cyan Renewables had the pleasure of attending WindEnergy Hamburg, where our CEO, Keng Lin Lee 李庆仁, was one of the panelists who shared his views about Singapore’s role in Asia's offshore wind developments. As the world’s largest event for the wind energy industry, which featured more than 1,400 exhibitors from 40 countries, we witnessed and engaged in dynamic discussions on the future of offshore wind and strengthened our global networks. We also took the opportunity to celebrate Cyan Renewables' 2nd anniversary aboard a yacht, just like how we launched two years ago. This time, hundreds of industry professionals from around the world joined us in celebration of our achievements, especially in the past year. Cyan Renewables recently led a Singapore delegation, comprising of Enterprise Singapore, Temasek Holdings, TCOMS - Technology Centre for Offshore and Marine, Singapore, Seatrium and DBS Bank, on an insightful tour of the offshore terminal at Port Esbjerg in Denmark. As the world’s largest base port for offshore wind activities, covering an expansive 4.5 million square metres, Port Esbjerg plays a critical role in Europe’s renewable energy sector, with over 80% of the continent's installed offshore wind capacity shipped out from this key location. Port Esbjerg is unique in its comprehensive approach, housing companies across the entire wind energy value chain—from research and development, manufacturing and transport to pre-assembly, installation and ongoing maintenance. This visit provided a valuable opportunity to observe and learn from the port’s seamless operations and its vital role in Europe's offshore wind industry. As Cyan Renewables continues to expand its global operations, our European headquarters in Esbjerg enables us to serve offshore wind projects across the North Sea and surrounding waters more effectively, aligning with our mission to facilitate the world’s accelerating transition to green energy. Today marks Cyan Renewables' 2nd anniversary, a significant milestone in our journey of growth and innovation in the offshore wind industry. Over the past two years, we have witnessed remarkable growth and expansion, evolving from a startup into an industry leader with a robust fleet of 35 vessels and an EBITDA exceeding US$100 million. Our strategic acquisitions of Sentinel Marine Ltd and MMA Offshore Limited, coupled with key partnerships with well-established firms like Hyundai Asset Management Co., Ltd., Ocean Infinity, DRS KWP and Obayashi Corporation, have significantly strengthened Cyan Renewables' position as a leading international maritime operator in the offshore wind sector. We are grateful for the strong investor confidence from Seraya Partners and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo), which has enabled us to boost our fleet and enhance our operational capabilities. This support is crucial as we strive to facilitate the global transition towards renewables. Looking ahead, the trends of increasing turbine sizes and the need for local content continue to shape the industry. In March this year, Australia declared its third (out of six) offshore wind farm development zone in the Southern Ocean, off western Victoria. This announcement follows the earlier declarations of offshore wind zones in Gippsland, Victoria, in Dec 2022, and Hunter, New South Wales (NSW), in Apr 2023. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gRZz4v5v Although this zone has been drastically pared back by 80%, it can still produce 2.9 GW of wind energy, sufficient to power two million homes. This zone is selected for the following reasons: 🌬 strong, consistent winds ; ⚡ proximity to areas of high electricity demand, including the Portland Aluminium Smelter; 🌐 proximity to existing connections to the grid; and 🏭 to replace the ageing coal-fired power stations in the region that are planning to shut down in future years. Therefore, there is a strong industry interest in developing offshore wind projects in this zone, offshore to Victoria. Such continued development reflects the Australian government's commitment to achieving its net zero target by 2050. As we stand on the cusp of significant developments in Australia's offshore wind sector, Cyan Renewables is eagerly anticipating the opportunities that lie ahead. With the industry poised for accelerated growth, we, too, are committed to positioning ourselves as a key player in supporting this expansion, which motivated our recent acquisition of MMA Offshore Limited. MMA Offshore Limited initially serviced the oil and gas industry, but since clinching their first offshore wind contract in 2020, they now generate 25% of their revenue from offshore wind. This acquisition not only adds 20 vessels to Cyan Renewables' existing fleet, but it also bolsters Cyan Renewables' expertise in vessel and subsea support to offshore wind farm developments in Australia, allowing the provision of services that include field preparation, survey, geophysical and light geotechnical services, inspection and light construction support.
