Towards a sustainable future at sea. 🌎 Together with Hurtigruten we are revealing the next step in the SeaZero project: the second-generation coastal cruise ship, designed to operate completely emission-free under normal conditions. With cutting-edge technology like large batteries, retractable sails, and solar panels, the vessel aims to reduce energy consumption by 40-50%. Key innovations include: ⛵️ OceanWings sails: Could reduce energy consumption by 10%. ☀️ Solar Panels: Adding an extra 2-3% in energy savings. 💨 Air lubrication: Cutting drag by 5-10%. 🛏️ Smart cabins: Allowing guests to monitor and manage their own energy use via an app. “Hurtigruten has been part of an industry with significant pollution, and it is crucial that we now take major steps to reduce emissions. Our goal is to have an emission-free ship in operation by around 2030,” says CEO in Hurtigruten Hedda Felin. We are delighted to announce the signing of another contract with Navigare Capital Partners, in close collaboration with Norwind Offshore, for the design and construction of a tailor-made Commissioning Service Operations Vessel (CSOV). 💥 - We are happy that Navigare Capital Partners and Norwind Offshore yet again shows VARD the trust for building one of their new vessels for their modern and growing fleet targeting the offshore renewable market. We look forward to the continuous collaboration, says SVP Sales & Marketing Torgeir Haugan.   This marks the sixth CSOV newbuild VARD is delivering to Norwind Offshore and partners since October 2021, in addition to an Energy Construction Vessel and the conversion of a Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) to a Service Operation Vessel (SOV).   Deliveries from VARD subsidiaries: 👉 The new vessel will have Vard Electros SeaQ Integrated Bridge System, it is prepared for a full digital vessel overview through the SeaQ Green Pilot, Vard Electro’s SeaQ Integrated Alarm System (IAS), Power Management System (PMS), and Energy Management System (EMS) to ensure full control of the vessel's hybrid system. 👉Seaonics AS supports the environmental focus with an all-electric lift and handling package. 👉Vard Interiors will deliver modern interior solutions and green HVAC-R and piping systems.   Delivery of the CSOV is scheduled for Q2 2027. Another milestone reached: Keel Laying Ceremony for NB 968 for Edda Wind. 🎉 On September 27, the Keel Laying Ceremony for NB 968 was successfully held at Vard Vung Tau, Vietnam. NB 968 is the fourth new build under construction from VARD to Edda Wind, including NB 965, 966 and 967. The vessels will join Edda Wind's fleet, enabling clients to generate renewable energy to meet the world's growing energy needs. #shipbuilding #integratedvaluechain #offshorewind #oneteam

Keel Laying ceremony for NB 980 at Vard Shipyards Romania – Braila. 💥 The ceremony took place on September 24. The highly customized state-of-the-art hybrid power cable lay and construction vessel for the leading Japanese construction company Toyo Construction Co.,ltd is of VARD 9 15 design - a design especially developed for the need of the customer to cater for the growing Japanese offshore windfarm market, as well as to operate worldwide. The vessel will have an optimal hull design to suit the natural and construction conditions in Japan, allowing it to be used in both shallow waters and deep waters for floating offshore wind power generation and DC power transmission projects. She will be able to carry out construction work at a high rate of operation in a wide range of ocean areas. 👉 Vard Electro is involved in the project through deliveries of SeaQ equipment and solutions. 👉 Vard Interiors will deliver modern Interior solutions and green HVAC R system aiming to create a good living and working environment onboard the vessel. Minister of Defence Bjørn Arild Gram and Minister of Finance Trygve Slagsvold Vedum were impressed with what they learned during their visit at Vard Langsten in Tomrefjord today. 👏 The ministers wanted to visit the shipyard to discuss the new long-term plan for the defense sector. The long-term plan includes, among other things, strengthening the navy with a minimum of five new frigates and up to 10 larger and 18 smaller standardized vessels. - It's very nice to be back at Vard Langsten and on board KV Jan Mayen. I was last here during the naming ceremony in 2022, Minister of Defence Bjørn Arild Gram said during the visit. - We are now embarking on a significant maritime initiative, and through its deliveries to the Norwegian Navy over several years, VARD has proven that they can deliver quality. They are now positioning themselves well to continue doing so in the future, said Gram. - VARD is known for delivering on time, with the right quality, and at agreed cost. Furthermore, we have good capacity and a burning desire to continue delivering to the Norwegian Navy. VARD is the only shipyard that can offer Norway frigates from an ongoing program with our closest ally, built in Norway.
