"You can tell that when we come in, this is a sacred duty and a sacred act for us. It freaks people out a little bit.” https://lnkd.in/eBPnpKJ5 This Summer of Heat brought together leaders of many faiths, and activists from across the country, as we gathered to stand up to the fossil fuel industry and demand a transition to clean energy -- and a just and livable future. Thanks to @fionarosemurphy for her piece about faith leaders protesting at CitiBank this summer. Dayenu's Rabbi Jacob Siegel later joined a meeting with officials at CitiBank, where they had no justification for investing in new fossil fuel projects. As we were pummeled by a series of climate disasters just these past few weeks, we wonder what it will take for the financial industry -- and policymakers -- to wake up to the urgency for big, bold climate action. Thanks to everyone who rallied in NYC! Join us to get out the climate vote so we have climate champions making decisions! dayenu.org/chutzpah

Friends, g'mar chatimah tovah. "The High Holidays and the Unetaneh tokef highlight starkly what we can and cannot control. Climate change is here. But we still have time to annul the severity of the decree – and it is going to take all of us." A lovely and inspiring exploration of the Unetaneh tokef by Dayenu's founder and CEO Rabbi Jennie Rosenn. https://lnkd.in/eJygHm29

“We should not, as a Jewish people, be investing our money in and perpetuating the fossil fuel industry when we know they are the bad guy,” said Rabbi Jennie Rosenn, Dayenu’s founder and CEO. “This is not who we are.” As we face escalating climate disasters in this somber moment, we commit to confront the reality of the climate crisis with bold action and spiritual audacity. The climate crisis is HERE. What do we need to do to get it into the campaign conversation? No excuse not to raise it during tonight's debate 📣 100%! Hurricane Helene's devastation is still unfolding, and heartbreaking. And science tells us that these climate disasters will only become more frequent and severe as the climate crisis worsens. We'll be watching to see if the debate moderators and participants give the climate crisis its proper air time! 👀

Dayenu's founder and visionary Jennie Rosenn at the Moral Monday event on "Election Season of Prayer and Action" yesterday. The fossil fuel industry – and politicians who do its bidding – works to disenfranchise voters to keep them from building power. The fossil fuel industry spends millions of dollars to elect politicians who will do their bidding. WE MUST PUSH BACK. How? We must turn out every eligible voter so we can elect leaders who represent the interests of everyday people, not corporate polluters. That’s why Dayenu and our American Jewish climate activists have committed to call and knock on doors of half-a-million voters. Because we know that climate justice, racial justice, and democracy are deeply intertwined. We’re gathered here today, steps from the White House, to lift up the incredibly high stakes of this election and call our brothers and sisters and friends of faith to TURN OUT THE VOTE! Good morning, Climate Week! First up: Let's get our money OUT of fossil fuels and into clean energy solutions. Words of wisdom from a seasoned and principled investor: "You can have a robust, diversified fund with market returns AND no fossil fuel investments AND low carbon footprint on the rest of its holdings. Don’t take no for an answer." "We’ve been on an uplifting and empowering journey with measurable impact, and it has greatly amplified our philanthropic commitments in the climate space." https://lnkd.in/exKi748h

But it does not in this nation because we do not in this nation fully leverage the democratic right to climate justice."
