We were pleased to host the Duluth Tourism Update with special guest speaker Lauren Bennett McGinty, Executive Director of Explore Minnesota. McGinty's emphasis on Duluth in the Explore Minnesota strategy was well received by the nearly full house.

Director Dan Hartman was on WDIO 's The Lift talking about our free concert series, "Music on the Ship," presented by Pizza Lucé. Following trends, mocktails are served on the historic William A. Irvin's deck as folks enjoy tunes and incredible views. The event last week had 179 people (with people coming and going), creating a casual weekday event in Canal Park for visitors and locals alike. Music on the Ship is at 7 PM on Thursdays in August.

It's been quite the weekend here at the DECC. The Duluth Harbor Monsters ran away with their inaugural season to become league champs! There's an excellent story in the Duluth News Tribune. (link in comments) And then we launched our Barbie®: A Cultural Icon covered by the Star Tribune (link in comments) If you don't see the exhibit before September 22, this museum-quality exhibit is booked up in other states until 2028!!!

A new thing happened last night. The William A. Irvin is one of Duluth's most forgotten attractions, but is also one of its most iconic because it exists right in the heart of the city. It was fun last night to bring it some extra attention. Thanks to Charity Hot Benedict and her organizational work we had our first free public concert on the spar deck of the Irvin. I will say, it felt like the beginning of a new Quirky Duluth-y chill event that may be around for awhile. If you get a chance I highly recommend to come check one or two out this summer.
