Supporting small businesses at AUSA! At the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition, DLA's Office of Small Business Programs Director Daniele Kurze discussed exciting updates, including the new "Pathway to Supplier" roadmap and the mentor-protégé program. “Our goal is to help suppliers to see themselves easily in our different supply chains, to identify the certifications that they need, understand the upfront costs associated with doing business with the government, and the timeframe to expected to receive a return on investment,” Kurze said. About us
As the nation’s combat logistics support agency, the Defense Logistics Agency manages the end-to-end global defense supply chain – from raw materials to end user disposition – for the five military services, 11 combatant commands, other federal, state and local agencies and partner and allied nations. DLA’s mission is to “deliver readiness and lethality to the Warfighter Always and support our nation through quality, proactive global logistics.” To accomplish this mission, DLA has a staff of about 25,000 employees divided into multiple supply chains that contract for material and services across the military classes of supply, to include: subsistence (food/water), clothing and textiles, bulk petroleum and other energy products, construction material and equipment, personal demand items, medical material and equipment, and repair parts for land, sea and air systems. DLA Quick Facts: - DLA procures items from manufacturers and suppliers and provides them to DoD and other federal/state customers, with services such as warehousing, packaging and transportation; - DLA contracts for items that are shipped directly by the manufacturer to military units and installations; - DLA disposes of excess military property through reutilization, resale and demilitarization programs. 📣 Defense Supply Center Richmond, home to #DLAAviation, hosted a meeting to kick off a new group called the Capitol Region Military Alliance of Virginia (CaRMA-VA)! This community-led alliance is all about uniting industry, academia, local governments and the military to support our region’s military installations and enhance their missions. CaRMA-VA aims to increase awareness of the economic and strategic contributions of military installations like DSCR, Fort Gregg-Adams, and #FortBarfoot, fostering partnerships that build a resilient future for the region. “We realize in the community that we're interdependent – a resilient installation is a resilient community,” said retired Army Col. A small gesture, like reaching out to a friend, colleague or family member, can make a huge difference to someone who's struggling with their mental health. Take today as an opportunity to check in with a friend, colleague or family member and show someone that their mental health matters.
